Ok, so, I've never had an issue with this drive, until today.....

I have a Hitachi 79 spoofed as an MS28 Drive...now that the console this was in is dead,
I was going to put it in another console for a friend of mine, as I have no use for it anymore.

However, In Jungleflasher, I can't seem to get the drive to play the unlock cd, Idk what im doing wrong.

The drive worked before and after I spoofed it. here is a copy of the log from jungleflasher of me trying to
return it to stock:

Drive rev undetermined, Aborting!
Can anyone help me with this, I just need it unlocked so I can return it to stock, and reflash it for another console.

I have all the original firmware files, and keys. My only issue is the unlock.

Does it assign the hitachi a drive letter after mode b? And do you have another brand of cd you can try it on?

also how are you connecting it to your pc?

Its connected to the PC via the built in SATA connections on the motherboard, I've always done it this way and never had a problem, and yes, it gets assigned the drive letter H: i can even play the wav file from the drive, but jungleflasher doesnt seem to recognize it or want to play it. an no, I don't have any other cd's to burn it to.

--EDIT--

Power wise, I'm using the xbox 360 to power it, as I don't yet have a CK3i or X360USB Pro.

Considering the initial inquiry says MS28, why not treat it as a Sammy.

If you are suggesting that he use any sammy command on a hitachi, you are horribly wrong.
Sammy unlock on a hitachi can/will brick it. Be 100% sure of what you are saying before you try to help.

Treat the drive like the type it is, not what it is spoofed as.

Anyway, I'm willing to bet that the issue is that he hasn't selected the "sammy" drive in the top right corner of the hitachi tab.
Of course, windows will show it as a sammy drive as that is what it is as spoofed as.
Obviously, JF won't autoselect a sammy drive in the winapi section, so you have to do it manually.

One more thing, if you have any version of ixtreme firmware already on the drive, you don't have to use the 79 unlock CD.

You just eject the drive, and power cycle. The drive will close, and you will have an unlocked hitachi in mode b.

Thanks for that tip, I will try that tomorrow after work, and post results, as for selecting manually, ive always had to do that, doesnt matter what drive it was, and i did select the right drive, because it showed up in JF as the MS28 it was spoofed as. This isn't my first firmware mod, I was just struggling with the lock.

Still having issues with this drive....

I've ejected the drive and power cycled, and I still can't get JF to restore the stock firmware....
And I've even tried turning the console on with the tray ejected half way, and still nothing....

Drive wont even bother with the 79 unlock cd as it says it fails....

Does anyone have an idea as to how to get this drive back to stock and unspoofed so I can install it on another console?

I have teamviewer if that would help.

Thanks for the lesson Joe. I did some due diligence and researched this to give better advice.

Step 1) Confirm that the drive is in mode B. Refresh the port if needed to show the drive info.

Step 2) Pull-down and select drive.

Step 3) Tick "Restore Firmware"

Step 4) Click "Restore To Stock"

Click OK in each of the dialog boxes. Refresh the port to show the drive info. I did this several times, spoofing to MS28 and then back to stock 79.

Appreciate everybody's help on this situation, however, there is nothing I can do further with this drive.....

Upon being totally frustrated with JF, I attempted to use Firmware Toolbox....
And by mistake....Bricked the drive by accidentally clicking the patch menu option instead of the restore menu option....

I find this to be no big deal, as I have all the dvd keys to all the consoles that I have modded, so it will be no issue for me just to get a replacement drive.

Again, thanks for all your help.
