Spoofing questions. Been out of the game for a while.

I had a DG16d2s drive in an xbox that the drive doesnt work in. Can I put a VAD6038 in the drive as long as I inject the proper key? I haven't been modding for a very long while and am interested in getting back into it. My nephew is old enough to play now and he has tore up a few of my disc so I want to start making back ups again. Any help would be greatly appreciated (including links to tutorials where things might have changed over the past two years).

it is not a good idea to put a benq in a lite-on box

however, you can try to fix the lite-on, or buy a new lite-on

for example, if the lite-on doesn't like to read discs anymore, you can pot tweak the laser

if that doesn't work, or you don't want to do it, you can put the laser from the benq into the lite-on

Thanks for the info. To me it seems as if the actually laser motor is getting stuck. It will move a little then just stop moving after trying to read for a fraction of a second. Do you think it could be the motor or would it be possible the POT fix would help?
