am going to try the jmicron chipset soon because it managed to get the key from 0225 so am guessing it will work with 0272.

usb360pro doesnt work russian program needs a sata port
so it could unlock the drive.
maybe in a few weeks usb360pro will have a work around

I wish I was efficient in soldering. Then I wouldn't be afraid to do this... :|

I want this to be more.... tested before I try it. I don't have 70 bucks to replace my drive right now, :p.

Re: Russian 0225 Unlock Tutorial for MXIC memchips (soldering and trace cuts)

the vendor dont mess up the state of the chip, then should be able to put the drive in vendor, one thing has nothing to do with the other.

the lock just does not allow any write/erase operation, so it must be possible to read.

I am not sure, but I've read somewhere that you need to reach 1V if you have a Winbond chip. So why not use a voltage divider instead of resistors, that way you know you will have almost exactly 1V... Just a thought, not saying that this will work. :D

go up to radioshit and get some resistors.
I got *5 10ohm 1/2w for $1.19.
Intro in jungleflasher
then use russian tool to unlock drive.
If done correctly jungleflasher will show you this....

Spi Status: 0x00
Manufacturer ID: 0xC2
Device ID: 0x11
Flash Name: MXIC(MX25L2005)
Flash Size: 262144 bytes

This is already confirmed as fake

even when you reach 1v the status doesnt change

Wow 19 pages of comments! It seems a bit of a nightmare but if it works then fair play for those that have given it a go. I'm just going to sit back and wait for the magicians from TX to come out with something reliable and idiot proof. Waited this long so another few days/weeks is hardly worth thinking about

Re: Russian 0225 Unlock Tutorial for MXIC memchips (soldering and trace cuts)

I will repeat again for those that missed it the first time - this will not work on Winbond. Don't F up your drives attempting it if you don't know what you are doing.

Don't panic we're on it, along with JF bugs being fixed, new AP2.5 being sorted and anything else that's come up since the release of the last stuff.
