Re: Russian 0225 Unlock Tutorial for MXIC memchips (soldering and trace cuts)

I continue to get Dump failed, drive gets unlocked correctly. Write the 3 banks. Then When verifying getting dump failed. When I power cycle the drive it shows as the firmware is copied correctly and that the key is verified, but when in the xbox 360 getting Play DVD, because it is not going all the way thru with the verification and writting of the firmware. Anybody have advice on this. Thanks. ;)

Re: Russian 0225 Unlock Tutorial for MXIC memchips (soldering and trace cuts)

Got this working on 0225 drive with mcix chip. Continued to get dump failed. Ended up unlocking the drive with VIA chipset, then moved it over to X360 USB pro. It then successfully wrote the firmware and verified, but still DVD Play in the xbox 360. Grrrr, I still believe the firmware is not being written correctly when having to move from one controller to the other, like jungleflasher thinks its writting but its actually not.

The label on your drive is 9504 but is actually a 0225?

Flashed the drive and installed it into another xbox 360 and it works fine. Something is up with the other xbox 360 that did not work originally, also the 4gb of main memory is not showing up either in that one. ;) looks like will be using it for parts. So yes it does work as long as there is nothing else weird going on. ;)

Re: Russian 0225 Unlock Tutorial for MXIC memchips (soldering and trace cuts)

i tried mine with no sucessl.

drive - 0272
dash - 13599
spi - locked

chipset - Winbond Mediatek MT1335WE - 1005 - BLSL

resister range - 3.5r to 20r, always locked in 0x8C, never changed:(

So are team X gonna donate to the russians?
Sure - we'll do that if they can show us all of their donations for all of the firmwares and all of the Jungle Flashers over the years and for all of the money they ever made with our past hacks - if they can show all that then we'd be more than happy to night

Re: Russian 0225 Unlock Tutorial for MXIC memchips (soldering and trace cuts)

For Winbond you want to be in between 0xFF (low resistance) and 0x8C(high resistance) For example, 0x8C lower the resistor value. 0x0 is just above the 0xFF, a tweak to far with a potentiometer and you'll miss it.

B.t.w you do not need the russian unlock tool, just intro every tweak of the potentiometer with Jungle flasher.

i do it whith a precision pot in on a scale of 0.1 R since 3.5r.

3.5, 3.6, 3.7, ...etc to 20r, never, but never change the value in unlock program. 0x8C, of course in a winbound chip 1005

Re: Russian 0225 Unlock Tutorial for MXIC memchips (soldering and trace cuts)

that new youtube vid translates to "Good for those who do not know what chip ML has a ROM BIOS, BIOS has this information that prohibits the reading and writing. This chip uses a small area at the end of it Flash that recorded Lock protection which prohibits recording "0x8C". In comes the 12C508 microcontroller that device is using a digital port with the capacity to drain internal trigger circuit with low amperage. Resistance to short-circuit cycles synchronized so that the voltage is always correct. That and to cause an instability in the SPI bus inside the chip into thinking the flash memory is "blank". "

Re: Russian 0225 Unlock Tutorial for MXIC memchips (soldering and trace cuts)

It's amazing what you can do with .net reflector and a couple of hours after you get in from work. i.e. a re-compiled version of the russian tool in English

No idea if it works as I've only got damn winbonds but it should since it's just a cut and paste of every function more or less. Anyone can grab it here if it's helpful (until new JF comes along):D:D:D:D

Re: Russian 0225 Unlock Tutorial for MXIC memchips (soldering and trace cuts)

Also found this

Regarding the winbond issues:

1. Russian guys/sekil say you you need max. 1,0V DC at the Probe. Since its fed by VCC/CS you need to burn ~ 2,3 V DC.
Since the russian site did update the R Values for winbond to 3-5 ohms you must use at least a 2W resistor/trimpot to protect from burning.

A far better/more stable solution than twiddly resistors/trimpots is

1) a 1,0 V Zenerdiode (at least 1,3W) to ground or
2) two diodes in series i.e. 1n4007 (VF=0,7V) + BAt41-46 (VF=~ 0,3 V) and ground. Even 2 LED´s in series could/should work.

The benefit is: the diodes remain a high impedance at C59 (could be realy important)

2. Since winbond chips (read datasheet) need synchronisation to CLK (MXCI datasheet doesnt mention this), the winbond chips are usualy much more stable by design.

3. i came across a very skilled italian board (tech´s might already know it). they worked on winbond´s software and hardware protection for quite some time.

Since i read across somewhere: "you dont need that russian tool..." is bs. Since that tool is sending Status Register Protect (SRP) and BP instructions. So USE the Russian Tool and click the UNLOCK utton!

4. Since this kind of MRA-check is like the ProbeV1-3 in old LT´s you need the "phat" button in JF. Dont use the "slim" Button (this is also found in TX Tutorial).

Good luck,
