Start Repairing/Flashing Drives

Hi everyone,

So in the past I have flashed and/or repaired a couple of friends' and family members' drives with the setup I currently have. Right now I have the X360USB PRO V2 for my chipset and have used the ghetto workarounds for probing keys and writing.

I want to start repairing and flashing drives on a small scale for kids around campus, but in a legitimate enough fashion that I could put up fliers for it. I know that there are some slim drives that can not be flashed easily or at all, (slim hitachis for one) but I would like to get a setup that will work for nearly every Xbox.

For legitimate reading and writing keys, will purchasing the sputnik360 probe and the ck3 probe suffice? Will there be any other permanent tools that I will need to purchase to have everything I could need when someone hands me an xbox? I am aware that TX sells switches for easy updating later, would I be safe just doing the trace cuts and repairs myself? Or from a business standpoint should I be offering free or charged upgrades of DVD FW, making the switches an easier option for myself?

I'm sorry that these questions are pretty scattered but I hope you guys know what I am trying to do. Thanks very much for reading!

get yourself a dremel and the maximus drilling template to do the kamikaze hack, that's most likely what you will run into the most these days, the Winbond liteon slim drives. You will have to do trace cuts for the MXIC chips but they're relatively easy. So you need: dremel, soldering iron, xacto knife. Or just bring them over to cherry hill and I'll flash them for you.

Sorry but that advice is pretty lame.

There is more to it than just flashing a drive cutting traces and using a dremel.

For newer slim drives you require DGX to get the DVD keys, so 1175, 1532 and the Hitachi's, all these drive require a replacement PCB

Older Slims you can extract the keys 9502/0272, 0225, 0401, 1071. As stated in the above post you can do the cut trace method or kamakazie hack depending on which chip it has or buy a replacement PCB.

I suggest doing more reading in the DGX section and flashing sections.
