Hello!

A little background: I got an phat Xbox 360 for $10 and I managed to fix that 2 ring sucker :) Now the first thing I want to do is of course, hack it! I been researching for a while now and I am prepared to get the necessary materials and etc. Is there any noob friendly version of the guide or anyone in the fourm on what I should to prepare for the RGH/JTAG?

P.S on the side note? Since I have a phat (white) version, would I be fine with the JTAG or should I be using RGH? All of the guides that I have found seems very outdated or never been updated after being created.

Thank You! - If I posted in the wrong place, I apologize beforehand mods!

What dashboard version has that xbox? (check out the system info)
If you lucky to have dash <= 2.0.7371, of course, you should install JTAG
(<= 14699 = RGH1, other versions = RGH2/R-JTAG)

Hello! Thanks for getting me going! It seems like Dash the or the D is 2.0.16537.0.

Also, I just remembered that when I got this, the person said that the hard drive was modded... What does that mean? Is that going to be any help? If so, is there a way for me to check it? Thanks once again!

it doesn't matter if you have modded HDD.
ok, so your choice is RGH2 (I don't recommend you to install it by yourself, find a modder) or R-JTAG (it's hard to find R-JTAG kits now, but if you'll get one, visit R-JTAG subforum with guides)

also, you can wait for CR4XL release, it works like R-JTAG, but also compatible with Slim consoles

Oops, I was trying to say disk drive. Sorry. RGH2 you say? I might be a newbie but I don't mind it doing myself but if you really dearly recommend me to find a modder, where is a good place to look at or find the, per se?

Also, does it now have any affect on what I am trying to do now? Modded Disk drive?

Modded HDD = cheap disk, flashed for Xbox 360 compatibility, nothing more.
I don't know where are you from, search ads at forums.. Phat RGH2 is pretty hard for newbies.

But then if it was flashed for compatibility, is there a possibility that it may be also Jtaged or RGHed already? I am not quite getting the concept of this "modding" I have done softmodding on like Wii and PSP but this is a whole new area for me.

So back to the disk drive modding, does that mean the previous owner had a break on the pins or whatever in-order to reflash the disk drive? I remember reading somewhere that all of disk drives are basically coded to work with only particular motherboard. Would the previous owner also have needed the flashing kit in order to do this also?

No, HDD mod isn't related to Freeboot (JTAG / RGH). It's just using PC disk for Xbox 360. (you can't just put regular HDD in Xbox without some tricks)

With flashed drive you can run game copies (DVD).
Freeboot allows to run games directly from HDD (but freeboot means no Live, no multiplayer)

Are you sure you need freeboot? I think, ability to run games with DVD is enough

You know what? Let me get back to you after backing up <-(corrected) the game and try running on it. I am really not sure the term modded DVD drive means what you are trying to tell me but I guess its worth a shot. Thanks for the help so far!

If you have the modded DVD drive, you can burn ISO game image to dual-layer 8.5 GB blank DVD and play it. Freeboot (JTAG/RGH) allows almost the same, but without burning to DVD

P.S.
Downloading? No, we don't support piracy! Of course, you should rip your original game disk to get ISO

I don't see where you mentioned what type if phat you have. Not all of them can be RGHed reliably. If you have a Falcon or Jasper then you're good. If you have a Xenon or Zephyr then not so much.

Well if you already have the game itself,.is downloading from different source still considered piracy? For the material own, isnt it my will to do what ever with it, not just using it to make profit. In my case, I ment downloading a piece of information that I have already own for convienience.. My justification.

Also, it seems like my Xbox is thr 2007 version that takes 175w with HDMI in it.

yes it is considered piracy, also you should ree-read the forum rules as suggested so that you are clear, the only back up discussion allowed here are backups that you physically backed up with the proper tools/equipment to make a backup, and even still you will be required to post abgx, xbc, and imgburn logs to prove that you have made your backup and not pirated it

IMPORTANT: READ FIRST

#1 NO PIRACY TALK
We are serious - none whatsoever. This includes no talking about downloading games, release groups, warez, newsgroups, torrents, files sharing or anything else to do with piracy. We understand that backing up your original to protect your investment is allowed in some countries, so this is allowed. However discussing anything regarding backing up an original that you do not own is theft and piracy and is not allowed !
I do believe before signing up and becoming a member here you accepted that you have read the rules and will follow them

In that case, I apologize, didn't know what extent to that I was able to discuss certain topics. Once again, I just want to make it clear that my intent was not to condone piracy.

Also guys, still not much of information on RGH right now.. :(

I know xecuter has many products that they have released... What do you guys think its the most effective and cheapest device to use?

Also, I actually thank you for telling me what I have done wrong but the way you said the previous reply, it seems like you are telling me something with authority. I don't want fuss but I believe that also goes against the rules:mini-modding

#7 NO MINI MODDING
We do not need anyone to mini-mod other members.

Q: Just what is mini-modding ?

Mini modding is a member who is intending to be a moderator/staff member and in fact they aren't, with answer's like this should be locked, wrong place etc.. that is a mini modding post.

Q: What do I do if I think a post is incorrect or wrongly placed or if a member is breaking the rules because I want to help the community.

Simply report the post by hitting the report button
and give the reasons for reporting. A member of staff will then take care of it. It is totally confidential and you don't need to be involved at all.

glad to see you read the rules, you should pay closer attention to what mini modding is.

member who is intending to be a moderator/staff member and in fact they aren't, with answer's like this should be locked, wrong place etc..
telling you to read the rules because you obviously failed to read them the first time and are mentioning downloading games is not mini-modding, don't try to be a wiseguy

I admitted my mistake and changed the post accordingly seems following to me. What else do I have to do is to meet your satisfaction? Are you trying to troll? I really don't know what you are trying to get out of this but if you are not going to help, please stop posting. I would rather be more happier for a moderator or an admin telling me these things. Clearly, you are mini-modding. Please, due with all respect, stop posting on this thread if you are not going to help a noobie.
