yes clearly i am mini modding you because you failed to read the rules and are a pirate

and to answer your edited question so i can help a noob out

for making backups of original copies you own:

x360usb pro v1 + ck3i + xbox 360 drive with 0800 fw (i prefer lite-on/benq) OR x360usb pro v2 with any compatible xbox 360 drive (see list) for use with Xbox Backup Creator

or from RGH/JTag console:

insert original disc and copy to hard drive via freestyle dash (specify location)

To answer the original question it cannot be jtagged. If it is not a Xenon or Zephyr it can use RGH2, or it can use r-jtag. These modifications will allow you to run homebrew software, but will get your console banned if you attempt to connect to live. A flashed drive will allow you to play burned games. and a Dual Nand system will allow you to switch between a stock and rgh setup on the same xbox. So the real question is what do you want your Xbox to do.

Thanks for the straight answer! So I have gotten a reply for the previous owner of the Xbox 360 and he said the DVD drive was flashed. From my understanding, it means that the Xbox 360 can run backed up games... Is there any other reason that I may want to have this Xbox 360 RGH? All I really want to do is play games on it and maybe some homebrew things here and there available.

You can play games on a original (virgin) xbox360...no need to do anything with it! just buy the games and play.

non flashed = original games
flashed = original + backup games
RGH = original games + backup games from internal or external hard drive
flashed and RGH = original games + backup games + backup games from internal or external hard drive.

if I were you! leave it like it is! flashed! and burn your backups and play to keep your originals safe. Good luck

if you want homebrew that will require RGH. It has its perks though, I have 100 games on my 1TB HDD, and all the emulators and 99% of the roms for them. If you dual nand, you can get the best of both worlds.

Thanks for amazing answers!!! I decided to leave as if it was. So does that mean I can't update the dash board or what ever you call the xbox 360 firmware itself? I would like to have live working so I can get to multiplayer. Will the updates change or mess up the xbox 360? Dual nand sounds promising but I don't want to have more resources used on this $10 xbox... I don't think its worth it anymore after paying $20 for the controller separately. xD Other than games of course!

I think, if your drive is flashed with actual LT+ 3.0 firmware, there won't be problems with update.

Then I will updated it soon as I can! BUT: is how do I check which firmware it has? I read about the jungle reader or something to get the DVD key and etc but how will this let me know what kind of firmware my DVD drive has? Thanks!

P.S Is there any useful links on flashing the Hitatchi Drive? I found the "manual" for the jungle (reader?) but it seems a bit too "advanced" and was wondering if there are any noob friendly versions around that you guys know. Thanks a lot again!

JungleFlasher tutorial is noob friendly. You can click links there, so it's quite 'interactive'

Are you sure is that Hitachi? That's very old drive.. Do you have HDMI port on your xbox?

The problem is hitachi can be easily bricked. Also, LT+ 3.0 for hitachi 78/79 supports only fully burned XGD3 discs

What is the difference between XGD3 and the DVD Dual Layer? And where can I get them? Also, what if my firmware LT+ 2.0 and I don't plan to upgrade it. Would it matter than if I used DVD dual layer or not? The previous owner has already flashed it so in order to avoid bricking, I should just leave it as should be right? I don't plan to get on live ever so it would not really matter would it? Thanks one again!

you really need to read up on all of this instead of firing random questions at people on here

educate yourself!!

XGD2 = Xbox Game Disc Version 2
XGD3 = Xbox Game Disc Version 3

both of these are data layouts of games on dual layer discs. all 360 games require a dual layer disc.

LT2 will not play XGD3.

you need to update your drive and also use a burnermax capable DVD recorder to make fully burnt games or it will not work.

READ READ READ!!!

go easy on the noob, telling him to read something might get you accused of mini-modding

apparently he feels he is exempt from the rules, no need to read anything, can openly discuss piracy, and continue to ask questions that have been answered hundred of times
