ok, so one of my friends attempted the rgh on his own, and failed misrably. He completely removed the resistor on the STBY_CLK and part of the trace. Now the console wont power on. I think the trace coming from the HANA chip is completely gone. I was wondering if i could do a trace repair by connecting 2 points from the trace to another point. il get some pics here soon.

I find it hard to believe that people don't know how to use cameras on phones or even think that a blurry image is of use to anyone.

1. Open Camera App.
2. Ensure there is enough light in the room. If not, add light.
3. Ensure the object is in the viewfinder.
4. Tap the screen to enable focus of it.
5. Take the image.

If the image is blurry, move further away from the object and repeat from #4.

You can ZOOM in once the image has been taken.

It's really not rocket science, people.

Oh and BTW, if the trace HAS gone from the HANA, use the board for spares. It's trashed unless you intend on spending money on getting it fixed.

What one do you have?

EDIT - ok, you don't even have an iPhone. You have an iPod Touch.

My iPhone4 takes an OK image. Here's a pic I took with it to show a repair on a PCB after lifting a BGA.

Check the EXIF if you don't believe it's come from an iPhone....

It's not the best phone in the world, but you can see it's perfectly adequate when you know how to use it.

did he have any prior experience before doing that solder work?

that is a delicate point, plus inexperience and wrong type of iron would lift the pads in a few unsuccessful tries.

I sweat when it comes to that point.LoL

There are many soldering iron that are advertised as 30w,40w but isnt the max heat important here?
'cause most of them do not tell you at which degrees they operate,I have a cheap one which says 30w but not sure about the operating temperatures.

When I look at ERSA irons they have 30 which says 350degrees max,the same company has 20w ERSA multi pro model which says it operates at 480centigrades.here comes the confusion afterwards

Do you know which temperature interval would be best for use with this job?

just wondered,do you have to repair the messed up points first to be able to use the alternatives, and without repairing the messed up points would it boot normally?

for instance think that you have messed stby_clk do you have to repair the point before movin on to the alternative,if you just stop there would you still be able to boot the console into the official dash?
thanks

If there is no trace left then it's no job for the average person. If there is someone local that can fix it for you find out how much. You can probably make enough money by selling everything separately and buying a used box that hasn't been tampered with. Lots of good deals on kijiji.
