Did you check it with a multimeter? It should read 30 or 33 ohms. OR did it completely fall off?
Is the power brick light red when you plug it in?

Okay well it does not sound ruined. And orange is good!
Next I would post pictures of the area and off all the solder points to be safe.

The resistor is a 33 ohm and is really easy to blow by getting it to hot. I've replaced a few myself do to that very reason. It is possible to get a non SMD resistor and use it but it might be tricky to solder it in place if you don't have much soldering experience. Post some pics as stated above but you might want to have someone fix it for you.
