steady green then steady amber

I have installed a few modchips in my time but I'm not sure what I've got here.I am installing a X2.6 on a now version 1.6a xbox and my first soldering attempt got me FRAG. So after redoing a few spots , I thought I had it this time,but Nooo ,this time the xbox comes like normal steady green power light but black screen , stays green for about 30 seconds then turns a steady Amber color and the screen remains black and the DVD will not Eject.
If anybody has seen this before and knows what it means please give me a shout !

When the chip is disabled the M$ dashboard comes up like normal.

Try booting from both banks. This sounds like a FlashBIOS issue.

Hi Martin, I have already tried both banks and am still getting Blank screen,no audio,power button stays green for 30 secondsthen turns Amber color,and DVD will not eject.

Do you know what version of flashbios you have on your chip?

Are you 100% sure it's a 1.6 (Samsung RAM) and not a 1.6b (Hynix)?

I'm not sure which flash bios is on the chip, my friend ordered the X2.6 from Llamma.com so I'm not sure what would be on there.He also bought a mother board version 1.6 with Excaliber video encoder and Samsung ram with matching Power supply, which is all in the Xbox I'm trying to install this X2.6

You could have FlashBIOS 3.0.3 on the chip.
Try this:

1. Boot the Xbox with the EJECT button.
2. light will flash, then turn a steady colour.
3. Press the eject button again.
4. Repeat from step 2.

After a few tries, you should hopefully get something on screen.

Hi Martin that didn't work. I turn it on with the eject button the eject button turns flashing green the DVD does not eject after a few seconds the flashing green turns a steady Amber color.This keeps happening, nothing on screen.

ok - it may take quite a few tries. If the Xbox is a 1.6 and it's FlashBIOS 3.0.3, it will work eventually.

A good sign is if it starts to flash green and then go to a steady red.

If you're still not getting anywhere, then it's worth thinking about a programmer and flash your chip that way.

Hi Martin, I'll keep trying it , but the eject button does not turn Red, it turns an Amber color and stays Amber until I hit the eject button again then it starts flashing Green ,no DVD eject, flashes green for 10 sec. ,then turns a steady Amber color.

If you're still having no luck, then get a programmer (or borrow someone else's X2.6!).

Hey Martin , I did what you said ,I kept pressing the eject button and the Flash bios 3.03 screen finally appeared.
As i said before Martin you are the man!

Which bios should I use to flash onto the X2.6 , thanks again.

Get the latest X2 CL BIOS (5035 v16) and flash this to your chip.

I'd also get FlashBIOS 3.0.1 (from our downloads) and use in conjunction with the X2 CL to make a 1MB BIOS, so you don't have as much trouble with FlashBIOS in the future.

Mate i believe I can tell you the exact problem. I got my xecuter 2.6 a few months ago and spent so long trying to get help of every board in the world it wasnt funny.... same problem...

turned out good ol xecuter had flashed the complete wrong version of flashbios on there, mailed them & snailmail'd it back to them, they reflashed, and here it is all working

specifically they said....

I received your X2.6 today and confirmed that it somehow only had
FlashBios 2.6.0 installed on it. I have flashed FlashBios 3.0.1 on Bank
1 and 3.0.3 on Bank 2, this should resolve your problem using Bank 2.

As you read in further posts, this was identified as being the problem. However, you can load 3.0.3 with a 1.6 but it takes time to do this. Read the rest of the thread
