Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, and sorry if this is one of those self-evident-get-me-flammed/slapped/beaten...

In my reading, it seems that the whole point of creating the first ISO cd with the dashboard, .ini and dummy files is to allow you to FTP into the xbox so you can transfer the actual files from PC to Xbox.

Seeing that the my X3 flashed properly with build 3029, and I already am able to FTP into the Xbox, shouldn't I be able to at this point simply transfer the files directly to the xbox harddrive?

I've already backed up the contents of my C: and E: drives to my PC already... just wanted to see if there was something about ftping using the bios ftp server vs. the evox ftp server.

Thanks for any help, sorry if I left out anything obvious.

yes your right... just use the x3 config live (which is built into the x3 bios) to transfer your dashboard (evox - avalaunch etc) into the xbox's hdd ;)

if u got a new hard drive u gotta format the new hard drive first with the x3 config live before transferring in the C and E partitions from your old hard drive (that u backed up into the pc) back into the xbox.

use a ftp client like FlashFXP (or something similar) to do the ftp transferring.

Great, that's what I kinda figured but just wanted to make sure. Very much obliged.

Speaking of harddrives, would any EIDE drive work, or are there certain brands with any compatibility issues/known bugs/resident gnomes?

Pricewatch awaits your answer :)
