I have never seen this before. everything works fine with stock drive. Yet another locked HDD from another modded Xbox wont work ...WTF... I have tried two drives now ...no dice.

you have to unlock the hard drive on the other modded xbox and then either leave it unlocked or lock it to your modded xbox

CK3 USB DRIVER HELP... WINDOWS 7
-Ok so I ordered a CK3 probe/Connectivity Kit and I'm told that I need to install a driver! IM ON WINDOWS 7.... AND IM FLASHING A 74850C liteon!... I goggled and came accross this site!(please take a look) http://team-xecuter.com/downloads/ -It says CK3 USB Drivers v1.1.0... But it says note ********For Windows 7, please use RC build 7100 or RTM 7600 Final version. (Installer program will not run on early Windows 7 or Beta versions)******* -ALSO *******This driver is to be used only if you are connecting to a Liteon 74850C.*********** A little confused! Please help thx in advance

You only need to install the driver if you're going to use it for a LiteOn 74850C drive. You don't need the driver for anything else. All the driver does it let you get the info from the probe through USB, and since you're not using the probe and USB for anything other than getting a key from a LiteOn 74850C drive - you only need to install it if you're going to hook up a 74850C drive.
As for the Windows versions - you can check what version you have by simply typing winver in the Start menu's searchbox and running the program that appears.

download ck3 tools that will install the drivers for you, dont plug the usb in till after you have installed the drivers

downloaded ck3 tools and inside was only drivers for Vista and older versions xp etc..

its just like any other windows mate, not hard if you know what type it is device it is in the device manager( computer right click > properties > device manager(top left corner) > list of devices should be there and then you unplug your internet and right-click on the device > update driver hardware > browse my computer for driver software > browse for the folder and click next.
thats pretty much it

It should detect the device as soon as you connect it too the pc if its windows 7 or vista.
As for Project2806 i have the maximus as well so much easier.

on maximus you should look out for usb converter and com port 3. i found out the hard way as I was plugged into the ent and they installed the drive i didnt want
