RGH Strange network problem

I have a very strange problem with the ethernet connection on my RGH-1 Falcon.

It is RGH-1 and boots quite fine into 14699 dash.
With network cable fitted and router on dhcp, it gets an ip address assigned fine.
When I try ping it from pc. No replies.
On the console I go into system / network settings / test pc connection. The console then detects the pc's on the network. Then I can ping successfully.
As soon as I close that screen on console then I cannot ping it from pc's again.

I need the ethernet port working as I use FTP to upload to console.

I have already "reset" network connections in the console and tried different network cables and ports on router.

Any suggestions?

Most probably a faulty network port. I had a falcon with the same issue, no matter what I did the networks port wont just work.

You could try wireless adapter, that might work for you.

Did more checking ..

I think I am barking up the wrong tree ..
It may be normal behaviour for the port to be "unavailable" until the console runs something that needs to communicate through ethernet.

I tried another console. A working untouched unmodified console. It does the same.
I went back to the RGH Falcon and put back the RGH firmware. Then booted into Xell and used Jrunner to try get CPU key ... Voila it works ok. Thus confirming my theory that I was barking up the wrong tree.

This then brings me back to why this all started. I am trying to get Dash Launch 3 and FSD onto a new RGH console.

I have a cd that boots xexmenu and then I try copy Dash Launch and FSD onto hard disk from Fat32 usb stick. Copying leaves some files out and they just wont copy across. (unless they are "hidden" .. :) ...)
When I try run from usb stick it gives error "game cannot run"

I then wanted to ftp to the console and copy files that way. That is when all this happened.
I thought Xexmenu runs ftp server as well.

Thanks.
