strange networking problem

hello, I have been trying to figure out what exactly is wrong with my setup, but it seems that I can send anything and everything to my xbox from my pc via FlashFXP, however I cannot recieve anything more than 1k in size... has anyone ever seen this before? know how to fix it? please, please help!

I have two different drives, and neither one can send files to my pc.
my xbox is v1.0 I think (its pretty old) or maybe v1.1 I actually don't know how to tell apart from the video cooler and stuff. but I got the X3 in and everything ELSE works great!

Since this proves your tcp/ip level of contact is working it would suggest you have an application issue... Considering what you describe (AND considering I have just drunk a bottle of wine) I would advise you to turn of your local firewalls... Sounds like the problem is in there..

my windows firewall is disabled, and my computer is plugged in through a router and the xbox plugged into the computer... is there some kind of firewall on the xbox? heh....

even when i ftp in X3 live setup, same issue.

alright I have a working dvd rom in right now and I can copy stuff from the dvds to the hard drive, but not from the hard drive to my pc... I really need someone who has seen this before to aid me! I am using avalaunch and Quix 1.01 to try and make the iso but even after it connects to the ftp it just doesn't do anything... always at 0%

HELP!!!

I have no antivirus, no SP2, I do have a google pop up blocker, but nothing outside of IE. I have been playing around with any and almost all configurations with FlashFXP and still nothing happening... passive mode and all... this is wierd.

did flash FXP auto update and find a cracked copy and disable downloads on ya? sounds like a problem with FXP. try logging into another ftp site and downloading something. :?

hmm interesting idea, but I can still download from the XMBC ftp site and the xbins ones just fine... almost 90KB/s which is pretty much topping out my dsl.... thanks though.

I do no know where to look for speed settings on the xbox except that boost mode is enabled in avalaunch.... an specific way to check?

the xbox is daisy-chained to the network via my pc and it shows up as a 100mb/s connection on my computer and I can download skins and everything on the xbox itself.

my router should allow everything to run at full duplex, but I do not see a setting for it anywhere... its a linksys 4-port router (any specifics?) but it does give the xbox an ip address.

okay I was messing around some more tonight and I tried bypassing my router altogether, and no difference, oh and btw I did see that the connection is 100/full duplex for sure. so it must be either some flashfxp configuration or something with my xbox.... more ideas?

connect a pc direct to your xbox! make sure you have the speed and duplex the same at each end, try that then, see what happens!

take every thing out of the equation and see what happens!

BTW what NIC do you have in PC?

I have heard not to use the realteck ones... but ya. when I unplug my computer from the router so its just my xbox connecting to my pc, my computer gets a private ip and the xbox gets none at all... however the network speed remains at 100/full duplex on the xbox and it just says 100mbs on the pc end. and I cannot connect to the xbox when the router is unplugged.

The solution's already been hit on here.

You need to set the Xbox to a static IP address if you're going to use the crossover cable. Keep it in the same network as the PC.

For instance:

on a 192.168.0.0 / 255.255.255.0 network

PC 192.168.0.1 / 255.255.255.0
Xbox 192.168.0.100 /255.255.255.0

You'll then be able to ping the Xbox on 192.168.0.100

Try to FTP to it like this, if you still get slow speeds from Xbox to PC, then go into your PC NIC settings and change the network card Link Speed / Duplex settings from auto to Half-Duplex.

You're only going from PC to Xbox in a single session so you won't benefit from full duplex anyway (look into CSMA\CD with TCP/IP )

Did you change the network settings to half-duplex too?

Copy and paste the dialog information when this happens, so I can take a look.

The only problem I can see with this at the moment is that your PC NIC is not set correctly!
Change PC to Half Duplex and try that!

Have you had any personal firewal or port blocking software on PC?

Not sure but this may not help!
