ages ago i flashed a type 47 hitachi, recently i was asked to update it to lt2
I now have a usbprov2, the drive appeared to do as expected, mode b back to stock then flash
put it all back together, but didnt test as it didnt have hdmi!
anyway he told me it would open the dvd drive, so i get it back and it seemed dead, xbox works great, and drive does nothing. So i hooked it back up to the usbpro and it wasnt detected, so i did a power of mode b power on and it came back to life. flashed back to stock and then back to lt2 but still when put in the xbox it is dead
any ideas?
oh i have also put it back into the xbox as stock still no joy
I have also compared the drive key that the usbpro tells me with the one i got a year ago, same key

What did you use to power you drive while flashing? Does it seem to be in mode B when you power it externally?

If its stuck in mode B windows will see it if you power it and searches for new hardware.

very strange, if i connect it up to the usbpro with blue led on (mode b) it shows in windows as a dvd drive and will eject from a windows command
with red led (no mode b) it shows as a cd drive but is unresponsive and makes most explorer commands hang

ok one last bit of info before bed!
I took dvd apart and wound the tray out and put it back together, put it in xbox and powered up, it closed and gave me the onscreen option of open tray, if pressed nothing happens and it goes back to saying reading, but it isnt!

On my ck3i mode B is off when led is blue and on when led is red. Apparently usbpro2 is the opposite?

Next to the blue led it says modeb_off on the board

Next to the red led it says modeb_on on the board

Nah, it's probably me getting it round the wrong way.

I use JF's send mode B for all Hitachi drives, even with a pro. If it says Red is on, then Red is def on.

it is blue is on on the V2
ive tried using the v2 to get into mode b and jf, same result
so at best its a new logic board, are each hitachi a different logic board?
at worst a new drive (how the hell am i going to find a drive that old!)

I think the boards are the same but if it had another FW version on it that may cause problems. I think you may find drives this old on ebay, at least i have got a few from there.

Spoofing drives is just going to give you trouble, not only ban flags. Replace the drive or just the PCB as Martin suggested.
