LITEON 0225 Strange problem with 0225 drive

Hi guys,
Some weeks ago I wrote a topic asking for solutions to a "read disc error, please clean the game dvd".
A lot of people said me that probably it was a problem of "weak laser". So i just buy a new laser, replace it, but the problem is not yet solved!!
Now let's talk about the strange thing: when i close the tray with a disc inside (backup or original), I can hear a "cric cric cric" as if the laser is not able to move along its seat!! So i think that probably was the TX-PCB that is broken, so i try to insert the original PCB, but the problem is the same "cric cric cric"!
Have you any ideas about?

Could be a few things you need to open it and see what happens, could be the drive motor or the laser movement worm maybe.

Check that the Laser carriage is moving freely (i.e. not trapped) it should be close to the centre spindle when it comes to rest :frown:

Also check that all the Ribbons have been inserted fully into their sockets :tongue:

Finally, with the top cover removed power up the dvd drive and you should see the laser body move backwards and forwards slightly along the runners then the laser should flash 2/3 times.

Warning
Do not look directly at the laser!!!


It sounds like the motor could be FUBAR!!! :eek2:
