strange slim only glitching on phat

hi all.

i have a slim here that i glitched earlier today. everything checked out and it was glitching well.

so the customer comes to pick it up and i fire it up and get nothing. i can see through the fan grill the coolrunner is powered but is not flashing green as it should so proceed to open it up to see if something has come loose. everything is fine.

anyway i start trouble shooting by switching to phat and i get a green flashing light again but slow glitching so thats no good. reflashed the coolrunner and same thing no green on slim but green on phat?

i've since tried flashing the coolrunner with nand pro and jtag tool several times and every time i get the same result and one time i left the programming cable and nandx hooked up but unplugged from the pc which gave power to the nand x and the damn thing gets the green light fine on slim when the nandx is connected??

thats some strange behaviour i'm sure you will agree and i'm at a loss where to go with it now to resolve it. could it be a faulty coolrunner maybe?

any other thoughts on things to try would be apretiated.

to be clear i should add this console was working beautifuly a few hours earlier and hadn't been even moved in the time between the final good power up and the test with the customer.

probably placement of the blue wire, try moving it while the console is trying to glitch in the slim position and see if it starts up.

I've seen this a few times, check your connection on stnby_clk (orange wire) else move around the green and blue wires

ok will try that. got to finish stripping it out, its still in the chasis. strange how it glitches on phat though.

I had the same thing here with a slim - I cut the CPU_RST down to 47cm which resolved it.

makes sense. it wasn't glitching for a while until i trimmed it once. cant remember the lenghth but i only took about 3 inches from the originl length.

ok its getting wierder. i have not moved anything just removed it from the chasis and its back to normal operation again.

Try a shorter length and snake the cable (like in the new QSB design).

lol i was just about to ask if that would be the best way to go. its coiled at the moment pretty much directly beneath the sb so i'm just going to trim and snake it and will report back. better get it back in the chasis too to be sure.

ok so i've trimmed and snaked it now. cant find the bloody tape measure so am trimming it in small sections and testing as i go. first trim has made the green light up very slowly between glitch attempts so it does seem to be a problem with the cpu rst length. will get there.

I did report this a week or so ago.
If you uncoil the wire and run in an s shape it makes all the difference

seems to be back to how it was when i first done it, glitching fine within 5-15 seconds most times and its in the chasis. i did find my tape measure and the final length for me is only 35cm. hopefully it lasts this time lol. thanks for the help as always guys
