Hi guys,
I've been doing this for awhile, but this is the first time I've ever needed professional help/assisstance.
I'll give you the background. {{My apologies for the long-winded story; just tried to give as much info as possible.}}
I have 2 Xboxes myself, 1x JTag Jasper 16MB with LITEON 74850c & 1x Falcon with BenQ drive - I also have updated many customers Xboxes in the past - I hadn't done a LT+ 2.0 update yet.
I have flashed both many times and yesterday I finally got around to flashing both drives to update them to be able to read my XBG3 backups. Falcon updated to 13604 Dash and then BenQ flashed from iXtreme 1.51 to LT+ 2.0 no worries; reads originals, backups, DVD movies & finally XBG3 backups no worries.
For my JTag, I take the case off the liteon (because I had a loss off thought for a sec and thought I had to use my extractor again) and I read through the new JungleFlasher tutorial and noticed that when updating dash to 13604, it would overwrite your DVD drive firmware (I didn't know this wouldn't happen on a JTag); so, I flashed to the new stock 02510C firmware with spoofed Drive Key (DVD Key: Not Found, but I knew it was the correct DVD Key; just didn't have the Key.csv) then read that you have to update your console to the latest dash now. FreeBOOT updated to latest dash (13604) had a few problems (picked the wrong firmware); so I had to throw XeLL back on via LPT; then XeLL wouldn't read my USB, so I had to update the whole new NAND via LPT (Lucky it's only a 16MB!).
JTag back up and running but would only boot into NXE because dashlaunch wasn't run to setup for the new dash & couldn't get to FSD/XeXmenu as they are only setup as Applications on my USB HDD. Threw my XeXmenu disc in the drive and it boots me back out to start-up animation; Center green led flickering quickly and reloads back to NXE with the Drive Status saying: "Open Tray". Clock 'A' on my controller to open the tray, and again to close. Same thing again. So after that, I thought to myself "maybe it's not happy because I flashed in back to stock"; so, back to JungleFlasher. Flashed to LT+ 2.0 with DVD Key with no problems; verified ok etc and tried the XeXmenu again. STILL resetting the console as soon as I put it in. Then, tried an ORIGINAL Xbox 360 game - RESETS; Xbox Backup - RESETS; DVD Movie - loads up the Copyright screens, starts loading the main menu and RESETS; Music CD Backup - RESETS. This is NOT looking good.
At this time I make sure I get my JTag up and running - XeXmenu injected onto 2GB USB Flash Card; copied to HDD; My Games; YES, XeXMenu runs! JTag MUST STILL BE WORKING!! Load up DashLaunch from XeXmenu and I finally have my FreeStyleDash setup working 100% again after flashing.
So, JTag working; back to the problem child. Re-flashed old CFW ~ LT 1.1, still doing the RESETS; Re-flashed STOCK again - still doing the RESETS & finally back to LT+ 2.0 - Still doing the RESETS. So; ALL of the flashing of the LiteOn worked flawlessly, but still doing these crazy RESETS - EVEN on the movie DVD's now.
I HAVE TRIED:
- RE-GREASING the laser slide bars: No affect.
- Searching for any damage on the DVD PCB: Nothing wrong here at all.
- Checking the laser with case on and case off: Both work flawlessly.
- Moving/seating the laser assembly closer & further away from the spindle: No Change.
- Checking the Xbox 360 motherboard PCB for solder splashes and shorts. Nothing that I can see.
- And finally; POT TWEAK: Tried between 8.5kOhm & 4.0kOhm; at 7.8kOhm the DVD movie played FINE; even after it got to the main menu.
Up until now, this drive was FLAWLESS; would read absolutely anything I threw at it.
What the hell is going on, guys? This is crazy!
ANY information is SUPER appreciated!
EDIT:
Just tried playing with tweaking the pot some more - some strange findings:
Also, here is a YouTube video I did which will hopefully explain it better. Many thanks!
