Lite-on Problems

I am flashing a lite-on drive, I followed a youtube video for cutting traces and soldering and using a 22 ohm resister and a switch, I still cant come up with the key or anything. When I try using dos flasher to try it out, it says MTK Vendor Intro failed, can someone please help.

Re: Lite-on Problems

tray half open does NOT matter

this is most likely a solder job issue

i would advise taking off all the solder again and redoing that

also, use jungleflasher

just press intro/device id then power cycle

if your solder job is good, you will get status 0x72 and be able to read

PS. NEVER use youtube tutorials...ALWAYS use the Jungleflasher tutorial

Re: Lite-on Problems

You need to make sure that you do 3 things 100% correctly.

1. Make the cuts right and DEEP enough. After modding many liteOns i still some times do not make the cuts deep enpugh .

2. Soldering has to be perfect! I mean 100% ...otherwise you are going to ground the connection. Meaning that some tiny microscopic connection is being made.

3. Follow the correct steps for getting status 0x71 . Drive in vendor mode.

You do not need to Half open tray.

check out my tutorial to get a detailed step by step guide.

Re: Lite-on Problems

I've done many new LiteOn drives. Do not make the trace cuts too deep - this is explained in the Jungle Flasher tutorial. You can try messing with the resistor value as well - anything in the range of 16-22 Ohms. You may also want to take a look at the Boxxdr Method for complete Lite-on firmware dump.

How are you powering your LiteOn drive?
