So after a lot of stress with wife kids and life and not paying attention I was attempting to format an internal hdd to give to a friend. As I tried to transfer my data to a usb key I commited the noob error of choosing my external 1tb hard drive and not the usb key. Could give lengthy reasons and excuses but I'm just really stupid tonight.
Anyway it asked me to set up the drive as an xbox partition and I said yes. Horrified to see 32gb available afterwards instead of the 16gb that should have been there and realised I'd screwed up.
Anyone know any freeware or method to recover the data. The games I can put back from the originals (although that may take a long time to rerip a seven year collection) but I had pictures and videos of the kids on there as well as other personal stuff. If anyone was as stupid as me and managed to recover could they point me in a good direction to take. Preferably before my wife finds out.
Put this in the noob section, cause today I rejoin the noobs clearly!!!
