after spending over 15+ hours soldering and resoldering on my v1.6, lifting up two traces, trading the motherboard hdd and dvd for a new v1.6 i've finally installed the X3. Waited for my pcb board to arrive and after 1 hour into the new install success. This makes the install look soo much easier and cleaner then having wires go all over the place.

Re: success

dammit. after working good for most the day I tried to flash the chip with 1959 but halfway through it stopped and said erase error. Now it frags all the time. I get both led's and a blue front on the panel.

I also can disable the chip with the long press and can go into the backup pressing eject+power. Maybe this has something to do with the flash error. I used the right 1959 file for the 1.6 and made sure that the flash protection switch on the chip is to the left. Any idea's????

Well, they don't make them anymore but you can try to look for old stock in stores. I mean I got two benq xboxs but one is rrod and the other just recovered from no video.

Re: DVD drive's Question

if you follow the tutorial for jungleflasher and have the right hardware you will be fine, you may have to update your flash in the future so best to beable to do it your self rather than paying £20 or more everytime for someone else to do it.
