Hey guys, I just finished my RGH and just wantedcto share some tips.

Soldering- get a good iron. That's most important.
When soldering on connections and u have acess to the other side of the board, heat up the exit point and have a buddy put a wire through holes. Makes a goodmconnections and is very easy.

Hardware- team xecuter got the best stuff don't even kid your self with trying anything else. I personally didn't like the qsb tho.

Software- backup your data when done

Tutorial- the guide in the stickies isnthe best

Any way hope that helps some one

"Tutorial- the guide in the stickies isnthe best"

And your above one is ?

Although having a good soldering Iron with correct sized tip is important, I'd say using flux and common sense with a steady hand is more important. And working in tandem with someone else especially on opposite sides of the mob board is a recipe for disaster imho.

+1 on that. I have done various hardware installs with irons ranging from £10 to my current one costing around £350, all have gone well, a steady hand and being careful with your work is more important than an expensive iron as long as you use the appropriate tip for the job.

As they say....a poor workman blames his tool. ;)

i've also made a lot of mods and solders... just be sure o heat the "track" you would like to solder on and nothing else, if it doesnt work use some soldering wax (dont know how it's called in english)

 Your getting better tips in your replies than you have given in your original post

In fact your tips seem to consist of:

1. Not using the QSB cause you didn't like them  (For a Noob the QSB are essential FACT)

2. Not using the stickied guides (stuck by the Mods/Admins here) :rolleyes2:

:eek2: What are you playing at :eek2:

Bizarre post. My tips are

1) Do a good job

2) Don't cock it up

3) Use soldering equipment and not brick layers tools or a hammer

P.S. Please ignore the bad comments about the install guide. The guide in the stickies is posted by professionals with vast experience. It is concise and correct.

was going to say this.

no need to buy expensive irons. just get an iron with a relatively small tip and isn't like 60w or something like that.
