Chi Town
I am having a bit of a problem. I have the X3 and 1.6 Xbox. But I dont have the power cable that conencts to the chip. Im trying to do the pin header install. Another thing is that in that pin header , I only have 13 pins for the header. PLease help me by letting me know how I can suppy the power to the chip under these circumstances. I would really not prefer to go with the wire install. Thanks in advance.

79 unlock

I have a Hitatchi 79 drive that I'm preparing to unlock. I have all the stuff I need to do it except for the 79 unlock sound file.

The link in the tutorial I'm using is dead and I can't seem to be able to find it anywhere.

Do you no longer need to use this file or is there another place I can get it?

Re: 79 unlock

Yes you still need to use the file and you can get the actual file through jungleflasher itself.

Hope this helps :)

Re: 79 unlock

Thanks for your reply!

Another problem for you pros out there. I got everything set up, using the xbox to power the drive.

I never get the "spinning up" part in Slax that it says in the tutorial. It just does it's thing and goes straight to the login and password screen.

I tried letting the power off on the xbox until slax started, then powered it on. I also tried just letting the power on when I started the pc and also the same result.

I'm using the version of Slax that was provided on this site, should I poke around the net for the latest version?

Re: 79 unlock

If its a 79 hitachi drive as far as im aware once you use the 79 unlock cd you don't need the slax cd.

Hope this helps :)

Re: 79 unlock

Thanks again for your reply.

Are you meaning I don't need the Slax cd at all, I can just use the unlock cd?

According to the video I'm using I need to boot from the Slax cd to put it into mode B. It states that once the drive is in mode B that it should take 2 presses of the eject button to open the drive.

I can boot fine off the Slax cd but it never tells me that it's spinning up the disk like it states in the video. It just loads up Slax to the login info, and it only takes 1 press of the eject button to open the drive which to me seems like it's still in normal mode.

I've been playing around with a few other things here to see if I can get it going but so far no luck. I'm thinking it's just one of these things I wasn't ment to figure out hehe :p
