Using X3 with lastest bios as of 2/8/2005 and this is my 3rd mod
2 x 1.6 and a 1.4

I attatched this question to semi relavant threads with 0 hits in over a week. Possibly I am missing something but I want to use ability to switch between 2 different bios banks. Yes I know that is easy but what is the use if they contain exactly the same settings ? My problem is I have both 1mb banks flashed with x3 and they share the same settings so I am unable to have 1 of them boot to XBMC and the other to Avalaunch. Please dont suggest the trigger option to do alternate boot because actually I want to do bank 1 boot to XBMC alt trigger evox. bank 2 boot Avalaunch alt trigger UnleashX. It seems to me I am missing something simple since the pro switch is available to ease the use and display of switching banks but again why if when you change the settings in one it affects both? I tried using an older version of X3 in one bank but still settings where shared. I tried using an alternate bios "M8" but I was unable to edit it with EVtool or EBtool. I find it very difficult to believe that x3's awsome bios was overlooked for this feature. I know very well how to choose another dash from within a dash but that just wont work for my application.

For anyone who asks why? Well because I can and it should. And also because I already paid for the pro switch.

Thanks for reading

there is only 1 set of x3 settings - the eeprom can take only so mcuh info. I understand what you are saying and I guess some ppl may want it. its actually a huge undertaking to do this - I will dicuss it with other coders to see if its worth the effort

ps cant understand why you could use evotool and m8 - works fine ?

Thanks for the quick reply. Just a suggestion I dont know if it is even feasable but maybe have the choice to store settings to disk like ini or ?

I admit I know nothing about how it works but I would have thought that the bios and its settings were stored in each ot the 1mb banks. I found out by suprirse that this was not entirely correct. I haven't given up on M8 but It gave me a kernel error
"I have 1.6 xbox" Anyway this isnt the place for that :) Maybe if enough people show interest so will the coders ;)

I really don't see the point, why do you need access to so many dashboards. What's wrong with picking one and sticking with it?

That aside, it'd probably be just as easy to change the boot order each time you want to switch as it would be to switch bios banks.

chester I know you want dual bioses but if you really want all those dashboards just set your boot priority.

1st boot priority = default
2nd = load on A button
3rd = X button
4th = B (X and B may be switched)
5th = Y

I know this is slightly a pain with the 15 character max but you can make your folders

Ava/default.xbe
Evo/default.xbe
UlX/default.xbe
MC/default.xbe
....

I know it is not the solution you are looking for but wouldn't this work for your problem?

dude have u tried the option quicklaunch? it eliminates the need for 2 bioses to boot dashes. Just make ur main dash then add a quick launch dash. If u want to load that one instead u press the quick launch button.

He wants more than one quicklunch. That is why I suggested what I did. Gives you 5 boot options.
