Well I have come to the conclusion that I am ready to get a surround system, but i am un sure of which one I wish to go with. I was origanally thinking about a 5 disk dvd changer /speaker kit but i have been reading lately and was thinking 6.1 or 7.1 would be really cool. In doing so i have found that many systems only have one optical imput and i am trying to find something with a minimum of two but i don't want to spend a bundle if i don't have to. So I if anyone has had any good luck with a company/product and it meets the minimum optical requirements. Any suggestions are welcome.

For past advice I have been told to avoid the dvd combo's on the basis that if the dvd player fails you are left with a sound system that wasn't worth the money. I want to go the way of the Audio reciever but haven't found one that i really like yet. I have also been told that Sony is an excellent brand to go with but these are just thoughts.

So to recap if you can help me find a inexpensive well made surround system with a minimum of 2 optical imputs that would really cool. This may be as impossible as asking you all to find bigfoot and take a picture of him rocking halo 2 but, figured i'd ask. Thx

I bought a kenwood digital surround reciever... never regretted it!
Has optical & RCA & S-Video inputs (possibly others can't remember) for each of your Channels. Channels include:

Video 1, 2 & 3,
CD/DVD with option of dvd 6.1Ch input (or whatever you call it LOL)
Aux input on the front (RCA & S-Vid)
Tape
Phono

Has option for surround speakers (pre-amped or non) & subby
Plus spots for 4 more speakers so your lounge room is totally rockin'!!!

I think i paid about $500 for it a few years back, but it was a floor model so i had a discount.

*edit* if you want great speakers, look into Wharfedale. They're a UK company...but they have unreal sound.

dude you need to go to ebay or some other websites that sell new or refurbished electronics. Personally refurbished is the way to....same warranty as new but alot cheaper. Anyway Look into a ONKYO TX-SR602(S). I install this stuff for a living and have been in this business for over 10 years now and i just installes this setup in a guys home. Along with this receiver i installed a set of polk audio RM-6800 Home theatre speaker & sub & a LCD Projection Sony Wega 55" widscreen HDTV. The Onkyo's remote controls everthing, and even the xbox for DVD's, its fully programable. Also Onkyo has great power and 2 or 3 opticals & all the HDTV connections you possible need. Plus its DTS,Dolby Digital,7.1 and basically does everything one could want. I was able to get this and speaker for under $1000.00 ( NO TV ). This system trulry blew me away and the customer i installed for said that his brother in law spent over $7500. on his system and thought that this one was just as good if not better. Good luck
