So I have a switch with 4.0.1 version on it and when I went to put in a sd card, it prompted for an update. What can I do about this?

If you want to keep current firmware, you should be able to update to the same 4.0.1 with exfat support.
Or you can use auto update and wait for 7.0.1 sx os support.

So yeah, you will have to go thru the update one way or another.

Format your SD card to fat32.

It'll then run on the switch, then do what was posted earlier then you can freely use an exfat formatted card

Do not update to 7.0/7.0.1 if you want to se SX CFW right now. Your issue is most likely that you SD card is formatted exFAT and you do not have the driver since the Switch does not support exFAT out of the box.

Follow the offline update guide to update to 6.2 and make sure to select exFAT.

Which section would that be in?

It's in this guide. Just follow it and you can just install the same FW that you are already running, but select the exFAT version. Before even doing that you can always format back to fat32 and make sure everything works. Just back up your license file and any other important files first.

@ArcXero18 forgot to add this part if you haven't done anything yet. Make sure to make a nand backup first.
