possibly a daft question and its probably been covered before but on my 1.6 where the chip is connected to the alt 5v would it be possible to add a switch between that? is that alt 5v the only power to the chip?
if the power could be cut would it make the user immune to xbox live ban? anyone tried this?

Can you explain where you're coming from?

If you want to disable the chip, then that's where you need to hold the power button on until the logo turns red.

If you disconnect the 5v power then the chip will frag.

There's no such thing as immunity from Xbox Live.

what im gettin at is that if the chip doesnt have power, the xbox wont think its 'there'.

on another note, you say the light on the front should go red? is that the x3 bank select thing or the eject leds?

i guess im just worried about being banned from live. if i disable the mod by holding power button for 2 secs or whateva the blue led on the chip is still on so im thinking im gonna get banned for that.

about this marriage of eeprom and hdd serial, i paranoid about there being more to it than that, there are exceptions where people have been banned and not met the criteria of this marriage theory.

That's not how the chip works. If you're not getting the red X3 logo, then you need to check your reset/eject wire is connected properly - recheck the install guides.

You really are hard work.... You can tell if the chip is switched off because you wont get the "Executer rocks my box" logo on the screen after the flubber. You wont get banned from Xlive IF the chip is switched off and that you still have the same hard drive fitted as when you registered... (see the front page on xbox live update). Listen to Martin C, he knows what he is on about..

If this is the case then don't bother. Just remove your chip and use your Xbox as normal.

IF you are 'banned', the worst that will happen is that your EEPROM gets banned and you have to 'get' an unbanned EEPROM to flash over the banned one.

I wouldn't touch Xbox Live with a bargepole, so it would never bother me anyway!

Appologies Chris24747 - I was a bit harsh.. Just get yourself on Xbox live and if you get banned it is no worse than not going on in the first place..

Re: Fix the RROD without opening the case! Not a towel trick

Absolute Rubbish, will never last, reball is the ONLY true, correct fix.
Locking due to poor information, do NOT try this with your console at all!
