Switching drives - from 79 to 78. Possible?

Alright so i have a 360 elite with the 79 drive. I wanna flash it but im really messy at soldering and i fear that i will mess it up and destroy my console. Instead, i was wondering if i can just buy a v78 drive from etech. i found one, and i was wondering whether, if i just simply plug it in place of the v79, it will work?

no way.it wont work

i think you could change out the drive but you would have to have the key.to get the key you will have to solder in the chip.if you solder in the chip you mite as well just flash the v79.

at this time i think you are going to have a hard time finding someone to install the chip for you.
if you got it from some where you can return it thats what i would do.then just get another one.
