Switching DVD Drives

My modded xbox 360 recently suffered from 3rol and i dont have the warranty sticker , so i cant return it to microsoft
Would it be possible to place my dvd drive into my frnds xbox 360 and still function properly? And is there a way to place the warranty sticker back on the 360?

Also what could i do with my 3rol 360, im guessing microsoft wont fix it. But can i switch bar codes and return it to a store, has any one had success with that?

both drives are ms25 by the way...

there are places that fix the rod.ive had 6 fixed myself.it cost from 40.00 to 75.oo usd.m$ will fix it with out the sticker but they are a lot more money.you would also wont to flash it back to stock.

yes you can spoof a drive to put it another 360.

Can i use Casters method to swap a Hitachi79fk with a Samsun M25 ??

From what i can see the 79 is a major pain in the butt. I understand you need the dvd key to be able to swap drives, can i get the key off the 79 without a mod ??

Thanks for the reply, I have searched and cannot see a definite answer. If someone could just say yes or no then i can either give up or search further.

As i said i understand i need the dvdkey from my Hitachi to spoof it on the Samsung. All the tutes and posts ive seen talk about anything but the 79. hence the question

Whenever the 79 is mentioned in this and other forums it is normally to do with a mod like Infectus.

Not sure that you can actually even dump the FW of a 79 drive at the moment to get the key? Never worked with these drives so have never looked into it, but I'm not sure if they can be modded yet.

The 78 can so I'm sure it wont be long before someone cracks the 79 or brings out a mod chip for it.

i dont think you will wont to mess with a v79 for spoofing.you would be better off just getting any other drive(not benq) to spoof.
to get the keys out of the v79 you have to solder in a chip.there is no soft ware option at this time.

Are we getting confused here? I read it as he has a 79 drive that he wants to spoof as a MS25?

As we all know to be able to spoof another drive you first require the key from the original (in this case the v79), which as you point out, is er.... tricky at present.

So no number of other drives will help with spoofing if you dont have the key from the 79 drive in the first place. :lol:

Just sell your xbox and buy another one with a Sammy MS25 or 28, much easier! lol

Cheers guys, youve confirmed what i thought. Im out of luck with the 79 for now i cant dump the firware so therefore cant get the key - bugger


Spewing as my 360 was working fine and i had checked a few months ago to see what drive i had, it was a 78. I had to send the 360 back after i got RROD last month and MS very nicely (not) put a 79fk in there

So yeah, possible with additional hardware, Team Xecuters X79.

Sounds too much like hard work if you ask me! lol

OliMaylen - you are right, too much work at this stage.

Price of the infectus chip seems good but not sure how stable yet.
