Thanks to many tips provided on this forum, I finally installed the mod chip by myself. Saying it was a nerve-racking experience is some kind of understatement for someone who's lacking soldering experiences, but it worked and I'm happy.
I tried sx installer but found it to be not that useful even with a file server set up locally. All we can do is to download Roms on PC, serve them up in SX server then download by SX installer. I found it's much faster to just copy files using a card reader than transfer via WIFI. I'm pretty sure I missed something but I just don't see any advantage using sx installer to install games.
Can someone please help me to understand the state of lan play at the moment? say if my friend also has a chipped switch, what software do we need so we can play some local co-op games? Is it even possible right now?
one last question is what are some interesting homebrews I can try besides the basic ones like checkpoint or game dumper?

You can try to go online by emuNAND, still I don't recommend it. Greedtendo is always looking for a way to mess things up.

Yes, you'are better transferring games the old fashion way.

You can do a search as for homebrews but to me, it's more than enough to be able to play the games and to emulate other retro consoles (altough i haven't tried that yet). SX OS already includes a feature to dump cartridges.
