SX OS doesn't launch newly added games

Hi everyone. Sorry for my bad english.

Some months ago I bought SX PRO dongle. I tried couple games (Odyssey and Attack on titan) + Retroarch and it was working fine. When I did it I used SX OS 2.0, FAT32 filesystem, XCI splitted games, firmware 4.1.0.

I was busy so I haven't used Switch until now.

Recently I was interested in Pokemon so I got Pokemon's XCI file but it doesn't work. Odyssey and Attack on titan are working but not Pokemon. It says there was an error reading cartridge. I have tried more games but they don't work too...

I have tried using another two microSD but continues working only Odyssey and Attack on titan. I discard microSD, FAT32 and firmware (Toad Treasure Tracker needs 3.X and it isn't working). I updated SX OS to 2.3 but nothing changed. It seems that only works the games I tried when I bought the dongle. I don't know why and nobody seems having same problem.

BTW in 2.3 doesn't appear "Emunand" text in the menu. Is this correct?

Thank you.

I too have run across a handful of games that do NOT work no matter what. I do not recall them all offhand but two I can remember are Overcooked 2 and Stardew Valley. It would be nice if TX started a thread here where users can post all the games that are not working. TX should then test the games mentioned by their paying customers and update the thread with a thumbs up or thumbs down for each game tested. Instead they do nothing while other people chime in to say dumb things like "try redumping it".
Duh, you think we don't try that before posting? I've also tried looking on the internet for versions I could download and try, just to see if that other copy would work. In the end, some games unfortunately are just not compatible with SX OS. It has been like this since day one and at one point in the recent past TX even admitted that some games do not work on their CFW.

Not all games work on SX OS, PERIOD.
I have read on several websites that there are some homebrew programs that help with the installation process of these games in order to make them playable. If you look around on other websites you will see that many people are using these types of tweaks in order to get the games working on SX OS. I do not know details about these claims since I have not, and do not plan to look into using unknown homebrew on my switch, or any device for that matter. Especially if there is no source code to inspect.

With that said, good luck. If you have already tried redumping your game numerous times and no luck then try downloading a copy or multiple copies from more than one website and see if any of them works. BTW, if you try downloading multiple copies to try then you should run a md5 checksum on them to verify that they are not already the same as yours or each other. Also if you download a game, make sure that you have a full known good NAND dump first as there is brick code floating around the net these days.

I myself prefer to download a game first so I can try-before-buy. If I like the game and feel it is worth supporting the developers then I buy it. If it is lame then I say to myself, "glad I didn't buy that one" and delete it.

For example, I have tried Toad Treasure Tracker and doesn't work. I have read people saying that game works.

I'm not a gamer, I'm really interested in only 4-5 games. Right now I'm interested in Let's go, Pikachu. Doesn't work. Attemping to analyze the issue, I've tried about 10 games: Let's go, Pikachu, Bayonetta, Xenoblade 2, FIFA19, One Piece... I have tried all of them and none of them works... And I feel if I tried them when I bought the dongle, they would work. SX OS doesn't work with new added games.

I can confirm Captain Toad definitely works.
In fact - every game I have tried until recently worked perfectly - no problems at all.

The latest few games I have tried though don't work but I've been told by another member that the games work okay for him on update 6.1.0.
I haven't done a system update for some time so I'm nowhere near 6.1.0.
I wonder if you might have the same problem where you haven't been doing system updates as they are available and compatible with SXOS.

Obviously you cannot do an update from Nintendo now cos that will put you on 6.2.0 unless you have Homebrew and ChoiDujourNX with which you can update to 6.1.0 ~ if you don't know what ChoiDujourNX is check YouTube

Yeah, so the problem isn't with the games, so please do proper research before you come here throwing bold capital letters into the forums about being a paid customer and demanding TX to fix this. I have personally dumped every game you mentioned and they work with no problem.

This issue is more likely caused by a corrupt SD card, having a corrupt .xci, or it may also be possible if you have also used the .nsp version of the game and have gone back and forth between CFW and OFW. When you boot into OFW, it will scan for installed nsps and if they are not legit they get wiped. I am speculating with that one...... but it's about the only other reason this could happen.

Please verify your cartridge works in your switch. Then once you see that it works, use SX Dumper and dump the game to .xci

That .xci will work. If it doesn't you will need to troubleshoot this further before being so demanding here.

So as a recap, one or more of these apply to you:
- You are pirating games and they are corrupt.
- You have a corrupt file or file system on your SD card
- Your SD card is just junk quality
Is this a generic reply? Because I haven't use bold capital letters no haven't demanded anything.

I use high quality SDs and Mario Odyssey and Attack on titan are working fine in my 3 SDs, so that reason is discarded. Let's go Pikachu (and any newly added games) doesn't work on any of the 3 SDs.

XCIs aren't corrupted because people has tested the same XCI and it works on their Switch.

I have never used NSP. When I'm in OFW it asks to insert game cartridge. When I'm in CFW says there was an error.

I'm a newbie in troubles and I'm asking helping in good ways. I'm sorry if something has made you feel bad, but I was surprised by the answer.

PD: @hackerhac, MP sent.

I have that problem with xcis and homebrew in sxos (no probs with installing NSPs though). It seems to be because I use a Mac (and not a Windows PC) to transfer the xcis to micro sd. Anything I transfer via Mac doesnt show up in sxos. Rectified this by opening the microsd in windows PC, highlight xci and right click mouse, then click advanced and untick the "folder is ready for archiving" option. Every XCI shows up on SX menu menu after doing that.

Files get be corrupted anytime it is copied or transferred. Just information for knowledge. Only way to confirm no corruption would be hash checks.

What OFW, CFW (if you are using emunand and it's different from your OFW) and SX version are you running? Without providing information other than 2 games that don't work, it's hard to suggest anything other than try re-dumping. Which it sounds like you can't do anyways since you download your games. Did you buy the 2 games that you say don't work and then dump them yourself and they still don't work?

@mikame - I saw that you were on FW 4.1. Have you tried updating using ChoijudourNX to maybe 5.1 or 6.1? I think some of the newer games do require a higher firmware. I could be worth trying. I would suggest emunand and updating that as well in case you want to keep the 4.1 OFW. I am on 5.1, SX 2.3 and Pokemon doe work for me.

@fluggy2003 Tried right now and doesn't work.

@imprezgc8 I'm downloading ChoiDuJourNX (what a name). But before that, I've changed background color to black on CFW and when I start on OFW the background is black too. Is that ok?

PD: There are 2 options on ChoiDujourNX:

-Prevent fuse burning.
-System initialize.

May I execute them?

Thank you!

Hahaha, updated to 6.1.0 and now all is working! I was on 4.1 and Toad Treasure Tracker uses lower FW, so I was discarding FW issue. I was wrong!

Thank you so much to all. Very very kind.

When I turn on, pop up appears saiyng there is an update for joy cons. Is this safe or it is offering update to 6.2?

EDIT: Something strange happened. OFW and CFW are both on 6.1...

When I boot on OFW, picture button works as picture gallery. When I boot on CFW, picture button works as SX OS menu. I have changed background color to black on CFW and both have changed. And now both are on 6.1...

have the same problem,
pop up messagebox says request a system update
Just to add, every .XCI game i have tried so far has worked. I do occasionally get the cannot read card error, but taking it out and back in fixes it.

As for the system update required like the above poster mentioned. I have also received this on a few games like Mario Tennis. Even in airplane mode and no internet access, it will require an update and will not let you play the game at all. Even though it says system update, its actually a game update. I have tested this by updating the game using another switch and the local update ability. Once i applied the update to the game, the game on SX OS plays fine.

Give me your list of non-working games.

I will test them personally.

You can PM them to me if you want, but I would like this list as for me personally, every game I have ever dumped has played.
Hi there I am experiencing the same problem but it has only been with 2 games so far, but some info first the switch in question is running sx os 2.5.3 ( there were 2 on the web site I'm using the not beta version) & my switch is running 6.0 firmware. The 2 games I am having issues with are zoids wild king of blast & final fantasy 9. Zoids says that there was a problem with the game cartridge, & final fantasy is a nsp file so after it installs it just shows up a gray box that has a circle Icon spinning & when I go into data management it shows a gray box with a question mark through it but when I first click on it to install it definitely shows the right Icon. Any information would be helpful as this is the first problem I have run into since I first started using sx os on version 1.4 thank you

Well, I'm on 9.2 emunand, and I'm unable to use my Let's Go Pikachu cartridge. It isn't the firmware version or the game cart, or card reader problem. My MK11 cart works just fine, and the Let's go Pikachu cart works on OFW. Why won't it work in SX OS emunand?

EDIT: Nevermind. Powering down, and booting SX OS emunand with the cart already in, made it work. Strange...
