SX OS with 2.9.4 BETA - FW 2.30 hangs

I've been using SX OS Pro since release on one switch. I upgraded it to FW 10 and SX OS to 2.9.4 BETA earlier this year.

I have another switch I purchased another dongle and license for. The SW FW is 2.30. I tried to use 2.9.4 BETA installed to a new microsd for the switch. The unit is not ipatched etc.

I can boot into SX OS and make emunand and do a dump etc to the SD card. But if I click on CFW boot, regardless if emunand or not, it hangs right after the "press any key 3 times" dialog. I ahve to hard reset.I have tried reformatting the SD card with Switch several times, and on a computer. It is NOT the SD card because I tried 3 brands (Sandisk, Toshiba, Lexar). I also tried various sizes (8GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB). It always hangs. I can click the OFW from the SX menu and it boots. It also boots direct into OFW.

I dropped back to an earlier version of SX that I used in 2018 and it boots.

So my question is, what version of SX do I need to use that supports emunand for this Switch with 2.30 firmware? I rather not update the firmware on the SW. The goal is to do a emunand and upgrade the emunand only. The 2018 version of SX that I have on a SD card previously, does not support emunand.

you say you dropped back to an earlier version of sx that worked, cant you use that one?

you could try using this guide to update the system nand to a lower version that supports a more recent sxos version

once thats done you can create an emunand and then just use that

Here's an update. It lines up with your suggestion -- thanks for your suggestion and guidance.

I did some research and found the popular opinion that 2.4.1 BETA was the best version to use for this. It would have emunand support and was confirmed to support fw 2.3.0. So I switched to this version. I then did the emunand creation. Upgraded the emunand fw from 2.3.0 to 6.2 (the last confirmed working frw for 2.4.1). When I successfully upgraded to fw 6.2 in the emunand, I then switched back to 2.9.4 BETA, which now worked. I then proceeded to upgrade my emunand fw from 6.2 to 9.2, which is the same version I'm using on my primary switch. Mission accomplished. I know have two non-patched switches running SX OS -- one with SYSNAND 2.3.0 and one with 5.1.0.
