Hello...
I am wondering before purchasing a 3rd party dock blindly, does SXOS and 3rd party docks work together?
My main goal is to find a compatibale dock so I can solder in a eternal usb drive.
The main one I am looking at is the Insignia Dock. But if anybody knows of a dock that can hold a 2.5 ssd in the dock please let me know.
ThanX!

Don't use anything other than the official dock. Third party ones have been known to brick switches with or without custom fw. You can get third party shells for the official dock that are great if you want to have a smaller dock without losing functionality/safety. Also why solder? Just get an external drive shell that converts a 2.5" drive to basically and external ssd. Or just buy an external ssd/ssd flash drive. The switch doesn't support anything above usb 2.0 speeds so you wouldn't get even a fraction of the speeds a 2.5" ssd is capable of. Just about any modern quality external HDD/flashdrive can saturate a USB 2.0 connection. No reason to get an SSD until Nintendo bakes in support for USB 3.0. if you want more fast storage you should consider upgrading your system nand. The system nand is far faster than anything you can get on USB 2.0.

Thanks for the insight, but I don't care about speed, I care about storage.
Rumor is Nintendo in the latest update did activate the usb 3.0, Just a rumor!
And replacing the nand chip is out of my league, I have watched videos on that subject.

Ok if they enabled USB 3.0 that's another ballgame. I getcha. Heck of a lot cheaper too. I think the switch's maximum storage expansion limit is 2tb a external 2tb external HDD is pretty cheap. Ssds aren't too bad anymore but are still pretty spendy
