I ordered the 2.6CE mod chip from System Mod Tech. and it came with the external switch Module missing. I've been calling them and Emailing them everyday for the last three days and I get no response. Are they just scumbags or does someone know of another way to contact them? I would hate to have to call the Better Business Bureau or some other Consumer Protection agencies and get them involved.

No idea mate, they are not one of Xecuters OFFICIAL resellers.Xecuter has his official resellers for just this reason, he will have built up a working relationship with them and thus he can suggest them to you. So I guess as they are not returning your calls or anything that drops them into your "scumbag" category. But not really scumbags unless you have followed their procedures.

I will say that it appears you might not have have read the faulty goods and return/replacement policy properly on their website. It says quite clearly(copied from their website):

"If you feel your item/product is broken, damaged, or was DOA. Please use our online chat below and speak with a SMT support rep."

Below that is a JAVA applet where you can talk directly to a SMT support rep. Alot of online traders will never respond to email requests if you have not followed the proper rules they lay out - as above useing their online chat.

It also say you can chat to them directly on IRC at irc.efnet.net #SMT

hope this helps!

The mighty have fallen. SMT used to be one of the top vendors IIRC and an official Xecuter store. Unfortunately they seem to have hit problems recently and been pulled from the official stores list. I had originally ordered my chip from them in 2003 and received great service, so I recently went back. Put another order in last week, got charged and a UPS 2-day tracking number but UPS still hasn't received the package to ship. Now a week later and behind on the installs, unable to contact them whatsoever. The 800 number has full voicemail and no one answers. The toll number they provide has voicemails but I have not received a call back from my message. The IRC channel is locked, no conversation is being allowed. I contacted my CC bank today and issued a dispute. I received a notification that my purchase should arrive on September 9th, and since it hasn't yet and I have been unsuccessful with getting in touch with *anyone* there the bank is backing me up on it and will be fighting the charge. I'll just refuse the UPS shipment if it ever gets delivered.

Went to themodchip.com, placed a call first with a question. Got a call back within 1/2 hour or so, plus a helpful answer. Completed my order online. Got my invoice in email at 20:07. Got my shipping invoice with tracking number at 20:14. I doubt I will have any problems with the rest of it. themodchip.com isn't on the list of official stores, but with the great service I just received I'd like to recommend that Xectuer consider them.

Contact your CC company and see what you can do regarding a dispute on the charge. You didn't receive the complete product and you have been unable to contact the vendor. For the sake of SMT I hope they turn their act around soon and start making up for it. They used to be good but if they don't correct this they aren't going to be around for much longer.

Live chat (the best way to contact them according to their website) is closed. When you call, the voicemail box is full, and email does not get answered. I guess my next contact will be to www.fbi.gov to let them know what system mod technologies has been up to. :)

the FBI, that a bit strong isn't it? if they have gone bankrupt or ceased trading the FBI would not be the right people would they?

i'm from the UK so I would not know much about your police, gbi and stuff. But I think you should try something like your equivilant of uk's trading standards that deal with companies that have taken your money without sending you your good?

anyway, if you goto the FBI about ordering a modchip they might smash your door down and take all your copied disk and throw you in prison. LOL :)

Take it to your CC company, file a complaint there. Let them know that you did not receive the mercandise ordered (listed right on the web page that the external switch is included) and that all attempts to contact the company have failed. Ask them for advice on if they think you should go ahead and repurchase the product from another vendor or wait a bit longer so they have time to try and get a resolution. Most all CC's have some sort of fraud protection, since you have not received what you paid for this should be covered.

Yeah, I'll try that next. I already filed a complaint with the Houston Better Business Bureau. Hopefully they can get these ass clowns to send me the lousy $4 part.
