Yes, I have read the forums & instructions. It is generally easier for me to search than to login, post, etc.

I have just a generic USB SPI flasher for dumping nands. The demon is new right out of the box & not installed to anything because atm I am just programming this CR to retrieve keys from this box.

I soldered the CR into a SB phat Jasper, plugged in xbox with power off, CR set to NOR, CR red LED on, Demon set to PC, installed software according to http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88214, connected demon to CR adapter via ribbon cable with en points soldered too. In the Demon toolbox on the CR tab I attempt to flash the Jasper file found here: http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88173

TDO Mismatch :(

Back to the boards! Ubergeek's mantra is ribbon cable. Looks like the sure fix is to solder the demon to the CR adapter directly, which I do.

TDO Mismatch :mad2:

I try tweaking as many variables as I can think of to no avail. Continuity is great from the demon to the legs on the CR, bypassing the adapter. Am I missing something obvious?

P.S. The hair on the CR adapter in photo 2 is from my brush cleaning off flux.

How long are the wires between the DemoN & CR? You tried using the ribbon instead?

Why are you using wires? The demon comes with a ribbon for that. Is j runner seeing the demon. I don't believe can write the cr files while on pc mode as this is only to test the demon.

Have you ever flashed a Coolrunner like this before? Cos I haven't.

You're supposed to install the DemoN, set to XB on the switch and then do it. You should only need the 5VSB and GND soldered, then use the proper miniUSB cable/port to try to program it.

Besides all of that, why choose soldering the wires manually when a simple check with a meter would tell you if you had continuity. Talk about the long way for a shortcut!

skytec: from what i have read, the demon is using the 5v from the USB

manwithoutname: wires are about 6 inches long, yes I used ribbon first

sick360mods: tried ribbon first, used wires per Ubergeek on another post, other posts seemed to indicate you could program CR with demon uninstalled

Martin C: Never flashed a CR period but hardly n00b. Reading this post http://www.xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88811 it seemed apparent that I can program the CR in this fashion, provided the CR has power. I don't want to install the demon to this box nor do I want a dedicated programmer if I am only planning on programming a couple CRs.
The instructions to solder wires manually came from Ubergeek in this post: http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?p=621623
Good idea on checking ribbon directly for continuity, it checks out fine.

Not trying to be a smartass but it is all in my first post.

I have a generic USB SPI flasher. No need of support here.

I am programming this CR to get keys off this box. Replacing a DVD drive. The demon will get installed elsewhere.

Nothing in that post mentions having just the DemoN connected via the MicroUSB socket and set to PC.

Here's what I'd do.

Set the DemoN to XB and solder two wires - the 5VSB and GND. That's all you really need for the DemoN to be powered by the console. Then try the mini-USB port and doing the same action.

Just tried in j-runner. Demon icon pops up but same error.

Yes to program the CR at this point, I will need another device. That is a problem for me.

Also, the red LED on the CR is powered by the demon when wired this way, xbox power brick unplugged.

As I am here for advice, I will try anything suggested but I must point out that the first sentence of that OP goes like "I have the demon hooked up outside of the xbox along with the cool runner"
http://www.xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88811
This person later realized that the coolrunner needs power that the ribbon cable wont provide.

You have the CR set to NOR, yes? It should be for DemoN programming.
yes, with red LED on

So post a pic of how you have it all setup now, since it's changed from when you started this thread.
Sorry for the delay. Here are the pics.

When switch is set to XB, toolbox says the demon is disconnected. Once I switch to PC, toolbox sees the demon but still a TDO Mismatch.

This time, I did check ribbon continuity while installed. Also, even though the wires are the same color, you can trust they are going to the proper points; I triple-checked continuity while looking at installation pics. All good.

Guess I could try in J-runner too but I expect the same result.

Tried in j-runner. Same result. Recognized when connected via micro USB with switch set to PC with TDO Mismatch, demon icon disappears when switched to XB.

What does this mean?

Please don't lump me in with this guy: http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91405

I have had a jtag from the beginning, so i never needed a programmer for a coolrunner flash.

I decided to get the demon & the coolrunner at the same time a friend needed to get his DVD key (on phat 14719 btw :D) Why not help a friend at the same time?

That is why this install has been atypical thus far.

Anyways, I am gonna try a couple things & I will post my results.

Your programing wrong.

You need to hook the module up, run usb from module to pc then run the ribbon cable to cr

Make sure 5v and gnd is soldered for demon. Don't use the pc usb.
