temp readings

Was there ever a problem with temperature readings on the 1.6? I did a search and only got that there were problems on Evox M8 and temp readings. In X3CL, I don't even get a temperature. Next to the time and the IP address it doesn't give me temperatures. And in Evox, it gives me temperatures like 147.2 F that never change. The only time I ever got a reasonable temperature was in XBMC. My stats are this:

X3 with X3 1959 v16plus BIOS
v1.6 xbox
Seagate 120GB hard drive

Thanks.

As far as I know, and I may be wrong, the temp readings in X3 are not accurate.

As far as if this is a BIOS issue, or a something else issue, I don't know.

As long as your Xbox is not shutting down irregularly (due to heat probs) don't worry about it.

That's my advice anyway.

Its the temp readings on the 1.6 version xbox that are not correct. i thought the x3 temp reading was fine. for some reason my xbox reads 60 degrees but its wrong because my xbox is cold.

I have a 1.6 box... that might be why I think the readings on all are wrong...

I just might be wrong on this one...

1.6 version doesnt have a temp sensor therefore all temp readings are false....

thank you savah for the fact-filled reply. although, in xbmc, it says the cpu is something like 120 degrees and this sounds reasonable. would xbmc be an exception to what you said?

I think i saw someone saying that the temp sensors on 1.6 just had been moved ? That might just have been that someones conclusion since the readings where wrong ... not sure ...

even with the temps incorrect on the 1.6 boxes, do you guys get pretty much the same temps all the time? just curious because sometimes my temps will read the same for a few days but then i start to get some really wacky temps....i read that the temps will read like 142 on the 1.6 boxes most of the time...but man sometimes i swear my box is on crack

nope... 1.6 does not have temp sensors (or in fact temp sensors have been moved to a different location from a 1.0-1.5 xbox, in case of overheating it can turn itself off) so xbmc would not be an exception... on my 1.6 xbox the temp shows 60C all the time (both CPU and MCPX). and 120 degrees celcius is NOT reasonable... on a normal xbox the temp for the cpu is 50-60 maximum and for the MCPX is 45-50 maximum. if you are talking about fahrenheit, which you obviously do, then i dont know since i'm not aware of the conventions...

So, for all these reasons you will NOT get actual temps in any program that uses the temp sensor.

Any resources for this. I find it hard to believe that any Intel Board including boards for xbox have no temp sensors. If that was the case they would just burn up because the fan would have no clue when to kick up the speed. And If it did get hot it wouldn't shut down until it burned up so, if you don't mind for us XBOX noobs provide a reference. While new to xbox I am a PC geek through and through and find this to be an impossibility. I would say with no processor fan and only a small case fan such as in the xbox that the temp readings would be pretty close to 120-150 F anything over that would be damaging. So if your temps are around that you should be ok. The more air flow you provide the less you have to worry about. Just typical electronics knowledge.

The Xbox has a shut off temp of 160F. I read on xbox-scene that the 1.6 have problems with their temp readings. My 1.6 does the same thing 32F straight to 147F. I was playing Ninja Gaiden today for about 3 hours and no shut off so I wouldn't worry to much about it.
