GENERAL Temp Sensor Inquiry

First post from new member. I have completed my first xbox360 mods on my falcon MB. I installed a 92mm fan over CPU heatsink, I ordered an Akasa fan controller, my two factory fans and my new Akasa fan are now regulated. I also ordered two LCD temp displays. I place temp sensors on the base of heatsinks. (CPU/GPU) Here's my Question...

How does a Jtag xbox read MB temps?
Are my sensors more accurate?
My CPU got to 46c after one hour of live. GPU was 35c

Thanks for replies.

xboxs have temps sensors, regardless of jtag or not, and the temps you are getting are really good for 1 hour of live, i would think the temp sensors on the motherboard are more accurate due to they are closer to the cpu and gpu , also i read on the fourm of someone who put some aftermarket temp sensors he actually drilled into the side of the heatsinks so they can me as accurate as possible. but to see the motherboard temp sensors use fsd it displays them there

Yeah I placed my sensors right on the lowest part of the heatsink base. (I've seen the drilled way) I've seen so many temp numbers. I didn't know if mine were off. Ppl claim 50-70c is good. So mine being so low I wasn't sure if mabe my sensors were poorly placed.

How does the xbox MB read temps? Does it have sensors on the MB? How is the xbox/MB determining the CPU/GPU Temps

i thought i answered this already, the xbox MD reads temps because the cpu has it own temp sensor as well as gpu , the determining the temps by the heat there is? also what temps are you getting on FSD? if they are similar to your aftermarket sensors then your good , also make sure the fan isnt affecting the tempter displayed as in the fan blowing right to the sensor.

Hi again , i actually have something similar to ask , so why not here , i have an falcon on RGH2 and xexloader reads 50 on CPU and 65-70 on GPU .

Are those temps the same as on a retail configuration ? or does the rgh exploit increase it ?

The RGH shouldn't cause your temps to be higher. Those readings you have are quite high though, which can be caused by a number of factors. Things like the thermal paste, dust buildup, fan speed, heatsink attachment, and how clean the chip dies are

What is weird is that am using the MX4 thermal past and still i have high temps .

But by adding an additional fan on top of the GPU 2nd gen rad extention , i get 45 on both Units .

I really wish to achieve those temps without any mods .

You can set thermal thresholds when building your xeBuild image.

To do this: switch to "advanced mode"; go to "xeBuild Settings"; change CPU, GPU and RAM temperature to around 58c; change MAX CPU, MAX GPU and MAX RAM to around 70c; and then save your settings to build the image.
You can download the latest xeBuild here.

Let me know how you get on with this; I find that these thresholds help keep my system running nice and cool.

Hey descend i appreciate your help .

I have just checked my SMC config parameters and saw these : 80°C;75°C;78°C - 100°C;100°C;102°C.

Do you think the 50 and 70 temps that i was getting previously are still quite high ?

I take 70c+ to be above operating level.
My Corona v1 runs at under 60c almost all of the time.

Let me know if you need further help setting thresholds for your console.

Descend right now i am having fans running at 50% according to the 5v .

I wonder if settinf the smc at 50 50 50/ 55 55 55 wil make some noise ?

I have a falcon btw on rgh2 and cr3 lite.
