I tried flashing via http with X3, through a linksys router, worked fine, got 1/2 way and stopped. bad news. so i said screw it, because i didn't want to chance it, so i went through, and made a dvd wtih the 100 mb dummy file, and tried on 3&4. the router tended to act up, so i figured disc would be safer. This time i flashed using the dvd, the yellow bar went all teh way, adn the green bar froze at 1/4 of the way this time. where do i go from here?
any help would be great.

i have a v1.1, and samsung drive. thanks in advance.

All I can think of would be a dodgy connection somewhere. The fact that your Xbox will run for a little but then stops in the flashing process points to a bad connection probably in the LPC.

Electricity  Heat  Component Expands due to heat  Expansion causes loss of contact  Error in flashing

You should re-post this in the bios flashing forum, you might get some more help from there.

WTF? dont encourage cross posting, it just makes things more difficult to follow.

you bought an x3 right? nice feature on the x3 is the backup bank, which is very hard to mess up. boot to it (power+eject) and try to flash again.

you will be suprised at how little the LPC solder joints heat up... not much, and certainly not enough to make any kind of movement which may cause problems.... but if I am wrong (I really doubt I am) I suppose movemoent would mess it up.

Try leaving your Xbox on for 2 minuets and then flashing it, it wouln't fix your problem but it will tell if heat is the problem.

Thank you, you have saved me! Now, I can boot up using the backup. Before I do so, should I resolder the points, to try again? Should I try redownloading the bios and unpacking? Is there a way to copy the bios from the back up to the 1&2 or 3&4 so I can try again without chancing screwing up the backup bios? Thanks so much guys.

Try leaving it for a little bit and then flashing it. (good point @ michael)

This would confirm that its not heat and probably not anything in your Xbox. If it turns out not to be your XBox, its probably just something on your network.
