So, i finally got the X3 and went to install it on saturday. I got everything soldered on with the solder pad that came with the chip (1.6 install). I said to myself, hot damn dude you did it. I put the xbox back together and went and hook it up. Blue light on the front panel switch came on, but the screen was blank....hmmm.... came looking around here and realized that likely one of the solder points might be bad. I went back desoldered which was a pain in the ass with the provided braid, didn't work well at all, but after about 20 minutes it came off. I checked the pin header and it was in good, no movement, solder points looked just as they should. I realigned the pad and resoldered taking more time with it...afterward I inspected it all and it looked good, in fact better than the first time around.

I put everything back together, resoldered the Alt. 5v wire, and plugged all the crap back in. Went and hooked the xbox back up..nothing. Red light comes on xbox turns off 3 times then sh*ts there...I can however, boot with the chip disabled and get the MS dash..so I go looking yet again and see D0 is the likely culprit. I thought to myself, wtf its a pad, you light it up, solder the solder and your good, whats the issue.

I took a break and went back at it that night. Desoldered a few points that might have been the cause and then went to the bathroom. When I came back, a soda on the table was knocked over and there was some soda inside my xbox :(

I spent over and hour soaking up soda and drying it out and then I tried it again...NO POWER!!!!! oh sh*t its broken, god damn it who knocked a soda over into my xbox..so then im thinking, Ok, maybe its just the chip, that last time around the solder pad took a pretty good beating, all this desolder, solder, desolder caused a couple of the pads on the circuit path to come off...so then and there I knew the pad was useless at this point. So I removed it and the chip and all the wires only leaving the pin header in there. I go to hook it up again, and it powers up...fragging, red and green light flashing on the front around the eject button. SO now im thinking to myself, maybe the pin header is causing it not to boot properly? or is something messed up beyond repair?

Someone, anyone please help, i'd hate to see my money go down the drain like this, I bought the xbox specifically for modding, i've modded 4 v1.0 (w/solder) and never had any problems.. What, if anything, can I do now???

It is too bad that you didn't ask for help back at this step..

More than likely you just had the wrong version of FlashBios. (My guess anyway.)

Sounds to me like it is a soldering issue now, but I don't think it was in the beginning.

Just check all of your pin header connections and your LPC rebuild again.

Hate to say it, but I think you did extra steps that caused you extra work.

Hopefully you can get it all back to working order!

I dont know why it would be a soldering issue, only thing soldered in is the pin header...would that, alone cause problems? that would suck if the original problem was the wrong flash bios. I read that it was supposed to just come up to some config screen so i thought I messed it up when it didn't show

No, but solder splashes, burned connection and bridged connections surely will..

I would guess solder splashes (which end up being bridged connections)
They can be a b#$#@ to find, too!

Might have to use a magnifying glass.

Yeah, I bet there is some solder still on there..I had a hard time getting it off the last time around, I got a desolder vaccum thing at radio shack and it seemed to do a really good job, but I bet your right. After reinspection it looks like all the soda is gone, i dont see any dried up on the board anywhere, even lifted the HS's to check under them. I guess i'll give it another go tomorrow and see what happens.

just soak up the excess soda, let it evaporate, and then clean up residual stuff that didnt evaporate w/ the liquid part (i.e. sugar)

Don't take this the wrong way but are you sure the AV cable is plugged into the TV and Xbox? I know it sounds like A [email protected] question but on my very first install job It cost me 10hours of my life soldering checking unsoldering again....and again Just to come to the end of A bad day I figured F_k it I'll do it tomorrow......Well I go have A shower and when I came out my WIFE was watch FLASHBIOS V3.0.3???????? I sai what the hell did you do she replies "nothing that cable was on the floor so I plugged it in for you,we had A laugh and a bad turned good.
If you check out this post Xecuter explains the different colors and causes of FRAG isues

here is Xecuter showing what the PCB rebuild should look like

Also I saw somewhere in here before Apost by Xecuter in which he explains that there are problems arroun pins 7 and 15 (I THINK) hope that helps

No, at the moment the only thing in there is the pin header. everything else is out and it powers on and flashes green/red. As the previous post said its probably solder splash or something which wouldn't surprise me. I need to check it out. Im hopeing I can get it working. Anyone live in southern maine? just in case? hehe

Make sure you clean up the soda spill real good. Use some alcohol and a toothbrush. Did you get any smoke after the spill? Like icecreamguys said it was probably the wrong version of Flashbios (the X3 is shipped with 2 versions on it, 3.0.1 and 3.0.3) but now it could be multiple things. I think you are on the right path to fix the issue though. Solder splashes, cut traces, etc.

Good luck man!

since the xbox won't work without the chip then that means there's damage to the mb. Fix whatever damage done to it so that'll boot up like normal then go about installing the chip again

she is broken completely. I ripped it out removed excess solder, pin header came out, use a magnifying glass looked for broken traces, fixed one near the D0 and all looked good, powered it up, turned off 2 times, and stayed off...o well.

I think one of the major problems was the solder sticking to the tip of the iron. I wish I had looked around more after I first installed it
