Testing my connections

This is probably the ultimate noobish question but I've glitched a few consoles now without any problem but have been having problems with the last one I've done. (no green light) The Post_out pad is off on this board so I've had to resort to using the alt point on the top of the board, I've got a multimeter in hand but its been a long time before Ive used one to test my connections, Im looking for a refresher, how do I check for continuity on all my points?

I've got continuity from the coolrunner to the point but it seems silly because thats like touching wire to wire, can someone help me out with what is obviously dumb easy question to answer?

I would fully expect it to work from a point on the same trace but I cant really tell with this point specifically.

If you are testing a Phat, the most important points are "A & B" Points, I use a 10X magnifying glass just for these points. As for continuity, the "B" point is the resistor to B point, I'm talking about the Phat console, if you use the QSB you can put your meter on risistor to the right of your solder point and the other to the QSB solder point ( next to the 3.3v ) on QSB and check it.

I dont seem to have any problems with point B as you mentioned, I tested like that and by touching the point on the coolrunner board with success.

Im not getting a blinking green light and cant boot into XELL so everything that I've read suggests that my issue is 100% my wiring, I will try and upload some pictures for them.

I did have an issue with post_out (point C) as the bad looks to be burnt off. I attached it to the alt point on top of the board to fix it but Im not 100% sure how to test that connection. I used my multimeter on the original C point and touched it to the coolrunner and it seemed to work but like I mentioned Im not 100% sure if thats the proper way to test that connection.

Would a bad ECC file stop the green light from blinking or is it 100% confirmed to be a wiring issue?

It can be the coolrunner programming, a bad ecc, but usually its poor soldering. What did you use to make your ecc?

Don't screw with your wiring in tell you are SURE it's not the software, flashing or anything on that level. Lets see some pics first when you can. Also Slim or Phat?

Console is a phat Falcon, I've tested all (it seems) with a multimeter and appear to be good.

Used multibuilder0.3 for the ECC, going to try bestpig and multibuilder 0.2 and double check first.

Falcon's are the best, If you use Multi Builder 0.3, try making the image without Dashlanch, it worked for me

Try both of those as well as JTAG Tool. It can make the ECC but I dont think it can make you a freeBOOT image.

Thanks for the replies guys, I tried bestpigs and I now see a green light flash temporarily...unfortunately now have a 3 RROD error (0110) shortly after. I was hoping Id luck out with a console I had collecting dust (applied the TeamXRROD kit) but not so much, chances are Ill get it reballed/reflowed or perhaps pick up a different console.
