FBxxx on xbox motherboards are not fuses, nor do they act as fuses. They are ferrite beads (noise suppressors) in an smd package. Just an FYI

You're right. I've seen many posts where there burns up due to a surve, assumed it was a fuse, especially since it's listed with a 0.5 amp rating.

I have a falcon that was having the same problem of not hooking to the internet, other than that everything worked fine. I read the thread and followed it's recommendations. First I reballed the SB, that was no help. So next I moved on to the network port, replacing that. Again no help, so next in line was the network chip itself. I took one of a scrap board, put it on the ailing falcon, started it up and all is now fine. So in my case it was the network chip itself. Thanks to all the above for pointing the way, and I hope my success will help someone else.

Was this chip by any chance the one you refitted via hot air? If so then you might have cooked it. It's also possible that you damaged something around it if you used a standard hot air gun.

Tapatalk misspelled it. Knot me.

Thanks for all the info in this thread, Its really going to help me troubleshoot my issue.

My fav jtag is having network issues and giving the 169. IP Addy but if I press on the ethernet controller while booting it gets the proper 192. IP.

Should I try to reflow or replace the controller? Never had this issue with a console and want to make sure I do the correct thing to fix it.
