GENERAL The 4GB Internal Memory on Corona v4 (White, Skylanders)

My kids have a White Skylanders Xbox 360 which I believe has a Corona v4 motherboard. The problem is that the internal 4GB Memory has gone bad. It will not reformat, save, etc... This has put it into a "loop" on XBox live. It will try to download the latest update (gives no choice of where to put this update, so I can't send it to a USB memory stick), fail, reboot, try to update again, fail, etc....
What I want to do is open up the 360 and remove the bad 4GB of memory, I have the 360 apart and found out it does NOT have the "clip on" 4GB internal memory like I expected. Is this 4gb memory removeable? If so, where would I find it. I can not identify it on the motherboard and I have taken everything off except the heat sink and I am having issues removing it and would like to avoid that if the 4GB is not under it. Any help, clues, ideas?

adding a hdd may fix it,but converting it to 16mb would be costly to send to a pro to have done, which would be the best fix tbh.

Thanks for the quick replies. I have been using a USB stick with the system. However, the update wants to default to the Bad 4GB of memory and won't let me select any other destination. I would add a hard drive if I knew it would take over as the "default" download destination.

Powering on whilst holding the sync button on the front of the console until it fully boots should clear any failed system updates.
if this doesn't work you would probably have to send it to be converted into a 16 mb system.
