The big banning question

ok I have read a lot of comments on 360mods and xbox-scene I but I am yet to here anyone bring up the big question.

We have 4 revisions of firmware eg:5.3 A,B,C and D all detect if you have a backup running in the drive to determine the disc speed....
I don’t get it..... if it is that easy to detect a backup then M$ can use c4eva’s own code to detect if we are running a backup and or look at what he did and or expand on that.
Why are we surprised we are banned when we already knew it was easy to detect a backup game!!!!!!!!!

I can’t wait for the comments on this one!

Everyone stop playing backups until they come up with a solution due to the bannhammer (lol), don't even play them offline because we think that the new dashboard might have the ability to detect and store info taken from the drive and is able to report to MS once connected to live.

or just permanently keep the modded xbox offline and buy a core for online play. For the games requiring updates to play that is what the online system is for :D

Thing about tunneling software is you cant really play any games cause they have capped the system link at around a 30ms ping, good luck finding anyone with a good enough connection. My Premium has been banned, and have yet to actually get into any games on either xbc or kai...

The console can see the games but cant connect due to the crap ping rate.

don't do that! This is exactly what MS wants people to do so they make YET MORE money!!! I think everyone should go buy a ps3 to teach them a lesson! so then they loose all the money from live subscriptions and console sales :D

Yea im with you Sniper but do bad it wont happen. the ps3 is a piece of crap and the online gaming sucks bad, people don't want to deal with that bullshit. They're used to playing on Xbox live. Leave the ps3 online gaming to the hard headed sony fanboys.

can't..i have too much invested in the 360 to give it up. I have 16 retail originals and a couple thousand MS points. Plus I use it to keep in contact for free with family members across the country. Also I've heard the xbox live is far better than ps3 online capabilities, and so far the ps3 game library isn't impressive. Almost all games on the ps3 have been out on the 360 and right now it wouldn't be wise for me to just switch. The only game I would buy that's not on the 360 would be the F1 racing. Maybe when they decide to come out with a real Gran Turismo and not some graphic upgrade along with developers utilizing the blue ray capacity for better games then I'll add a ps3. I saw a screenshot of GT on ps3 and it was flat out fugly..the spectators were 2D cardboards and they looked morphed together. More like PS2 graphics. I've read GTA IV will be the same port as the 360, not taking advantage of the ps3 capabilities. I'm not interested into spending more money for blue ray movies either, another example no reason for me to switch now.

BTW MS makes the profit off games, all companies lose money developing consoles. Article I read couple weeks ago it costs Sony around $900 to make the ps3. They're already making enough money from millions of live subscribers so no impact there..
Kinda like boycotting gas prices and having a national don't buy gas day..pointless and the company still makes millions

Actually Nintendo and MS actually make profit on every console sold. I think initially MS was losing money, but eventually they managed to change it the other way around. Nintendo has been making profit on each Wii sold from the beginning. You are correct about Sony though; they are losing $250 per console. It's only losing $200 on the 20GB version, but since they phased that out, it's just straight $250 for the 60GB.

I got a question for everyone though:

It's not the HDD that will get you banned right? Have we determined that it's something within the console itself? Console ID is within the motherboard, I believe, so using your HDD on a clean CORE should be okay.

I'm asking because I just got myself a CORE system off eBay to play LIVE with. I had heard someone comment on a person being banned by using their HDD on a clean console, and still getting banned. My guess is that the person must have used a downloaded save that was on the HDD, and not because his previous console that was using the same HDD was banned.

I'm looking forward to that 'ShadowRun' game coming out the 29th of this month, and Tenchu Z 4 player co-op in mid-June. I figured I have invested in MS too much as well; since I just recently entered my 1yr prepaid LIVE card into effect just recently.

Hmm... since I'm pretty sure you need an HDD to play Xbox Live, maybe they just put something in the harddrive that you connect to your console that allows you not to play XBL. (Unlikely) But if that were true, maybe just getting a new harddrive would unban you?

/crazy theory

No its not the hard drive unless you have modified it in some way that M$ can detect eg: loaded someone else’s game saves.
We already know M$ is not banning your live accounts just the consoles... (The expensive bit!!!)

You did get it new right? ok thanks man. And the word has been if you use your HDD on a clean console your fine, but im sure Ms has tracked that HDD or Gamertag who really knows. Thanks man

i fkin h8 MS! hope they loose millions through banning! i mean how stupid are they they loose peoples £40 quid annual subscriptions FOR WHAT they say developers will stop making games for them thats bull sony have done ok all these years! i mean where is the harm in backing up your own games! they should jus figure out a way to ban pirated games!!

ASSSSSSSS HOLES!

anyone who goes out and buys a second console is just stupid! thats exactly what MS wants people to do so they make YET MORE money!!!!! get a wii or sumfin :D

well if you want to play on LIVE, there is no other alternative, so i wouldn't call it stupid exactly. you might want to try and control your emotions there.

besides, in the long run i think we will come out for the better in the end (if ya know what i'm gettin' at). its the cost you gotta pay to have backups ;)

and i have a wii and it is collecting dust, i had to put it away. i only got it for zelda since i am a fanatic of that game. after i beat it, i never touched it again. there are no AAA+ titles worth getting, only multiplayer minigames that are not worth my time

used one. i don't see many new ones for cheap. it was $237.xx shipped. it wasn't from one individual, it was from a "store" on ebay. i'm pretty sure it's not banned, but i will check the warranty/tamper sticker when it comes. the store has a good return policy, and i read all the feedback. xbox is picking up steam and stealing away some exclusives from ps3. like gtavi for example. blue dragon is also coming up. with the way ms is setting the price piont of games, $60, its not a bad deal.

4 full retail price games and there you have it. of course the ones you want to play on LIVE its gotta be original in the console to play

ok cool yeah make sure the first thing you do is check to make sure its not banned because if its used who knows who had it. Especially now with all these people saying they are finding ways to sell and return banned consoles. Ok man keep me potsed. yeah i want to pay about 200 for a core.
