ok so i have 2 xbox 360 consoles both have the lite-on DG-16D2S that both need there drives replacing .

i been searching around on the net for last few days gathering info on what is needed to fix these boxes, seems i need a 360usbpro v1 or v2, a ck3 mini, and a TXprobe3. is this correct or is there some other new gadget that will do what all these 3 items will do.

which leads me to my next question which is where can i purchase these tools, i managed to order a probe 3 of amazon, i had also ordered the ck3 mini from amazon but received an email today saying that its out of stock, i live in the uk and cant seem to find any sellers :/

well thanks for reading my post,i also thankyou for any help you may offer. usually these type of things im able to work out for myself, but im struggling on this. i also have ordered my replacement drives which should be here any day, along with the TXprobe.

Do you have the DVD key from the consoles?

I have done nothing to these xboxes yet apart from take apart to find out what drives i have.
i have jungle flasher installed and have watched many youtube vids, i just dont have the tools needed to do a proper flash.

why are you replacing the drives?

if they are not reading discs all you have to replace is the laser.

much easier and cost effective and no flashing required.

I thinking it may be easier and cheaper to just replace the PCB from the old drives into the new ones.. i cant seem to find any uk sellers for a 360usbpro or a ck3 mini

yes well you see with my sons xbox i want his to be able to play backups as he is destroying my game disks.

also on my sons xbox his drive is snapped inside (loose tray) and its not just a case of swapping of swapping the drives.

I would do nothing more until you confirm the console drive is correct for that unit.

how do i confirm the drives match the console, both owned from new, apart from visually looking at the drives inside my xbox what else do i do to confirm?

Some times if you buy a used Xbox the drives may have been swapped. If you have had them from new then they will be. Thats all Martin is asking for.

If you have owned both consoles from new why not swop pcb boards from old drives into the new ones you have ordered, make sure everything plays ok then worry about flashing your sons drive.

For now i think i will swap the lens on my xbox 360, and swap the pcb on my sons disk drive. and not rush into buying tools for flashing untill i have more of an idea on how its done.. Thanks
