I hope Microsoft wins. I'm fed up of ps2 fans saying their ps2oaster is better than xbox when it's not. and ps2 ruined dreamcast just because of the insane amount of adverts sony had brainwashing people. To me, xbox is like the new dreamcast, and is better than ps2 just like the dreamcast was.

And the annoying thing is, ps2 fans said, graphics don't mean anything, now they will be saying graphics are everything just cos of that cell processor.

It's a kid's game of "my console's better than yours", the losers will always argue that they are correct when they're not and it won't end untill sony have no money...which isn't going to happen 'cos they have a lot of money.

If I was to buy a future games console, it would be XENON, 100%. But I would only buy one to fit chips for profit 'cos I should spend more time making money than playing games and arguing about the fact that Microsoft's game consoles are much better than Sony's.

I know people will disagree but that's how it is.

I am going to wait and see the specs of each console, then I will wate for some good games to come out for each console, then I will make my choice.

Personally, I hate Sony. I agree that there technology is usually "superior" to thier competitors. Although, usually they are way over priced and there product quality sucks. My PlayStation broke, my minidisk player broke(I brought it back, it was repaired, and it broke a second time), my Sony speakers were horrible, and my 2 Sony TV's broke. I also take very good care of my electronics, and I am confident they broke because of cheap parts. For my walkman the plastic cracked when it got too cold!

Maybe if they improved there quality in products, lowered there price, and got better games, I MAY buy a PlayStation3.

I purchased an Xbox because I also like supporting North American companies.

to the ones bitching that they would have to pay for xbox live:
well, don't?
i'm sure you dont HAVE to pay xbox live if you dont want to, and can just play games offline; you'll just have to do without the extras.
as i see it's, it's not a bad move from m$... the more people on xbox live, the more xboxes they can check for chips (i'm sure they'll have a bunch of nifty tricks to combat piracy, so it'll be harder for us to use chipped xboxes online). from their point of view, it's pure genius. from ours, well... ;)

i wont be using xblive, but i cant see why a (small) subscription fee is too much to ask for. even the almighty m$ needs to pay for their bandwidth and servers. also, a subscription to xbox live would make a lot more sense then one for some ridiculous mmorpg people seem so addicted to lately. well, maybe that's just me hehe.

i have no doubt the next xbox will be a big hit, and i cant wait to see it in action :)

Well, it looks like we have had completely seperate experiences with the same company (note: I'm not saying you're wrong! Just noting the difference in our experiences). I've heard nothing but good from Sony.

My cousin Evan, before he joined the Navy, worked at Radio Shack. While he was there, he sold a lot of CD players. We were talking at some point or another, and that subject came up. I will quote him here, "If you're gonna buy a CD player, make sure to buy Sony." Of all the name brand CD players (Panasonic, Philips, Memorex, etc.) that were brought in for repair, only 1 out of 10 was a Sony Walkman. So, of all the name brands, he strongly recommended Sony.

Also, take in mind how the two companies took care of their customers when it came to the gaming consoles. When the Playstation 2's got the dreaded laser reader problem (which WAS a problem, I will admit), all you had to do was send it back, and they'd repair it or get you a new one (I can't remember which right now, sorry). They would fix the problem. Now, that is in a very stark contrast to what Microsoft has done.

Over five million XBoxes were manufactured with faulty PSUs that have resulted in many burns and potential house fires. What does Microsoft do? They lie to the entire world and claim, of all things, the cord is responsible! We all know the truth, yet they continue to insist otherwise. That is a filthy rotten business practice that makes my blood boil... "Oh no, your XBox caught on fire! Oh well, it was a manufacturing error... my bad... tell you what: go buy a new one and hope the problem goes away. I will continue to lie to you! Have a nice day!"

As far as the plastic goes: that what happens when things get cold. They become brittle. Unless a particular plastic is designed from the get-go with cold temperatures in mind, there is a good chance it'll break if stressed. I know this from experience; after all, I accidently tore off my passenger-side door arm rest in my 1990 Ford Escort LX that way! :) The corner was stuck in the snow, so I reached over and pulled, and POW! Suddenly, I had an arm rest in my hand, and the door was still in place. It was a cold day. LoL, there were a LOT of problems with that car, but I still kind of miss it. There's always something poetic about your first car.

As far as the other Sony products go: I don't have specific examples, but again I've heard nothing but good. Remember, I'm not saying your wrong! I'm just telling my opinions and experiences.

When you say, "lowered there price," do you mean for the Playstation 2? It was priced at the same price as the XBox, was it not? Probably not: I guess you were talking about their other products, such as the Walkman, speakers, etc. I guess they are a tad more expensive then some other brands, but you can do that if you're the, "name brand." Abercrombie & Fitch clothing is actually of lower quality then Walmart, but which one costs more? Note: I said clothing, not shoes! Walmart brand shoes, no offense to those that might care for them, are pretty poor in comparison to name brand shoes. I buy Walmart clothing, yet spend more on my shoes because they last much longer.

I am all for American products, don't get me wrong! But, I will sacrifice, "buying American" if I feel like that American company is hurting the market place. And that's how I feel about Microsoft. They have been hurting the computer market for far too long. That's why I use Linux (more stable and secure anyway), why I support Apple (plus, they are really innovative), and why I will support Sony in the next generation of consoles. I'm doing my part to help remove Bill Gate's Iron Fist controlling the market: I hope that hundred of thousands will eventually join me to reduce this super power.

By the way, what do you consider "American?" A company may have it's roots in the American market, but be paying foreign workers to do everything (or at least a portion of it) for very cheap. To me, this is not American. Many companies fall under this umbrella: Harley Davidson, Ford, Chevy, Microsoft, etc. There are very few companies that based entirely in the USA anymore. I admire companies that still prefer to stick around here, even though they could get Koreans or Chinese to do the same work for cheaper. Those are the REAL American companies.

Okay, too long again. I'm going to bed.

LoL, yeah. All of my friends are addicted to World of Warcraft. I find it pretty amusing that they consider themselves to be higher life forms then all of those... Everquest players! They don't really realize that they look kind of dumb saying, "Everquest players are morons!" while staring at their level 50 Dwarf Paladin... kinda like an alcoholic drinking a beer while telling the smoker off for lighting up another cigarette. :D

I hope the Xbox2 is big and has alot of room for mods. I hope they aren't influenced by the PS2 slim. Even if they don't need the room, it would be good to make it more durable.

Also, it would be cool if the disk was just pushed inside instead of the normal tray that comes out of the DVD drive. Like car stereos, that would be sick.

Yeah, a slot-load DVD drive would be nice. If I have spare money and time over the summer, I would like to attempt to create an "XBox Slim." However, I'm not entirely sure that the Samsung firmware would act friendly toward a nonstandard DVD player. Plus there is that whole eject thing that would be messy. Would have to figure out the wiring diagram for a slot-load DVD player, and I'm kinda lazy.

A slot load dvd drive would be sweet. Good idea. Microsoft, if you are reading this, pleas implement this. ;) Just kidding. But hey, we can dream right?

I thought the Xbox 2 was supposed to use some type of triple core G5 variant?

Someone said something to the effect of "three Pentium 4's" were going to be used?

Correct me if I'm wrong. Here's a link:

http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000600035065/

I hope it does. Imagine running Mac OS on your Xbox 360. Irony at it's sweetest:) I plan on "chipping" it the first chance I get.

stealthdurag:

Yup, you are correct! I was mistaken. It is three G5 cores, not Pentiums. I shoulda known better.

The PS3 I think is not going to be backwards compatible they are moving to another processor which is almost the same as the Xenon which according to rumors the same processor just developed differently because of the patents and crap. If you own an xbox and you get an xbox 2 you dont need to worry about backward compatibility just use the xbox to play the old game. Also once you get a taste of new graphics better gameplay i think you wont wana play the xbox. Take halo 2 for example after months and months of playing that go back to halo and you wont believe how different it will look. I couldnt believe that halo looked so awesome when it came out then i tried halo 2 for a while and went back to halo and i couldnt believe it. As far as i know only MSG 2 is about 9GB every other is about 4 GB and there are a couple out there that are around 5GB. The name Xenon is by far the best name i have heard, Names with numbers get played out quick. What you gonna end up one day saying xbox 5? Xenon sounds like a futuristic device and thats what they should be pushing towards.

Its ALL CRAP!!!!

I hate the fact that basically every time a new system is going to come out... there are the "LEAKED" specs which tell us that they are basically building the next super machine that will be flying unmanned missions around the galaxy... and they back off so much that by the time they come out they offer a model rocket without the launch pad.

The fact that all of this technology will be so expensive to actually produce is proof that people will believe anything. They have to realize that they have to keep this machine to $299. That is what people are willing to pay for a new console. They simply cannot go higher than that. Reguardless of how much any of them costs i will wait till after the first $50 price drop so I can get it Chipped and the games are better.
