Let's say my friend has a modded Xbox 360, with Crackdown he downloaded from internet and burned to a disc.. which is illegal, i told him that

but any theories yet about burned copies of Crackdown not being able to download the Halo 3 Beta, or getting a XBL-suspension because they might be able to read the "beta-key" on the disc (just ranting).

who has got a good insight about this matter? or has a nice theory?

i'd like to think you can download Halo 3 Beta, with 1 disc, as much as you like, on different consoles, whether it is burned or not :)

Didn't you have to register with a real copy of Crackdown to get into the Halo 3 Beta anyway? And even then, I thought not everyone who registered got in because there was a random drawing. It would seem pointless to make everyone jump through hoops like that if it was just going to be a public download available to anyone.

When the Halo 3 multiplayer beta surfaces in spring 2007, owners of Crackdown with access to an Xbox 360 Pro console or an Xbox 360 Core console with hard drive and a valid Xbox Live Gold subscription simply need to load their copy of Crackdown into Xbox 360 and use the disc as a key to download the beta from Xbox Live Marketplace and join the battle in Halo 3 multiplayer.
so if it really is as simple...

and this is the newest info..
Each copy of Crackdown has been specially marked with a Halo 3 beta sticker prior to the beta period, and starting May 16 the game will act as a key to download and participate in the Halo 3 multiplayer beta.
i wonder if all the crackdown discs are marked with their own unique key... doesn't sound impossible, but wouldn't that raise up the costs for making them in those amounts?
