i got my chip in thanks to rookio, and soon as cromwell popped i loaded my bios disk.... it flashed it without any input from me, what do i set the bank switches to to load the backup... i cant get back to cromwell basicly

You can boot backup by holding eject & reset while xbox loads. Only problem is you have a 1.6B. The backup bios is FB 3.0.1 You need FB 3.0.3
You'll need to get another xbox that you can flash your chip on, or do a hotswap.

i figured it out
it wouldnt flash backup from the chip so i just loaded evox and ftp the flash 3.03 bios.bin into c drive and flashed back up from the hdd instead of dvd.... i have flash 3.03 loaded right now

i saw other posts like this... might wanna sticky iti had flashed x3 without checking about flash 3.03... i had the 3108 bios loaded, so i just booted slayer, and used FTP from there, i noticed FTP on the chip froze it up
We would certainly sticky this post if the info was pertinent, so help us know exactly what happenned.
Tell us what banks you flashed first, then if you used different banks to load up, then what you had running (Bios) when you ran Slayers.
Did you have X3CL, etc. That will help us determine if the sticky is able to be done.

installation of chip complete, i was told to load the cromwell with switches in the off on off off setting, not sure what bank that is.. that loaded cromwell... then without changing them i just loaded the x3 bios disk i made, which had the 3108 on it... i flashed it. after flashing it rebooted and i had x3 config live loaded... backup wouldnt load cromwell because 1.6b box. so i apparently flashed over cromwell with 3108 x3. the backup was unable to load 1.6b... as i had 3108 flashed, i just used slayer, did full installation... then ftp inside of slayer i dropped the flash 3.03 bios.bin in root of my c:\ drive, and flashed the backup from inside config live. for some reason config wouldnt read any of my bios discs i made. but i flashed backup with 3.03 from the hdd and bam i have my backup rom loaded with 3.03 and it loads 1.6b

No, not too confusing, and while it was the correct way to flash your backup, i don't think it's sticky material. I could be wrong though
i just said it cause i noticed alot of people flashing over there cromwell on 1.6b and other saying oh well
