There seem to be a lot of people asking about Xbox mods here (it is the forums for it after all).
There are a ton of resources out there that are not Xbox related, but have guides and link to projects that have been done in the PC world before. Lots of great advice on painting, plastic dying, working with acrylic, LED/electronic mods, etc.
Thinking outside the (X)Box, I'd recommend the following sites:
Suppliers? Think local, think outside the (X)Box ... Walmart, KMart, Autozone, Pepboys, HomeDepot, Lowes, etc. Consider craft stores - Michael's, etc. Online?
Not a comprehensive list, but one that reflects sites/companies I have used in the past - so please add to it. If its useful, it might be a nice thread to sticky.

Thinking outside the (X)Box, I'd recommend the following sites:
- www.hardforums.com - specifically their Case Modding Forums. Be sure to check out the worklogs, gallery, and electronic sections as well.
- www.bit-tech.net - an English site, but home to some of the slickest custom built cases around. The Articles area is where you'll want to be.
- www.mashie.org - a mod god.
- www.virtual-hideout.net - these guys seem to get every available piece of hardware available for modders in to review. Great case gallery.

- www.crazypc.com - check out the LED and CCFL options ... and another team through their EL wire was the Shiz?
- http://www.so-trickcomputers.com - I used to order from these guys all the time. Great source for fans and cooling supplies, but also lighting, and UV reactive gear (cables, etc).
