i dont know if you guys have read, but i have read all over how third party docks and cords have been super wonky on switch and even bricking some users consoles.
Hello, yes I'm aware of that, it's why the two dock I've chosen are "known" to be "safe" on latest firmware.
User reported they use LREGO dock as their primary dock with official power cord and never encountered issues (my plan is to use that one when I travel somewhere I know there is a TV and main power.
Regarding the SH350 no brick have been reported and is considered safe since firmware 5.0.
Peoples discovered that the "thing" that was bricking the switch is the transition from 5v to 15v and vice versa that was not happening at the right rate. This is supposed to be fixed since firmware 5.0 However you should avoid cold booting the switch or restarting/updating the switch on a third party dock since the bootloader may not handle correctly the voltages.
Anyways, I was planning to use the SH350 only from a 5V usb source (powerbank) on portable projector or place were outlets near screen are missing. In that case the switch should never brick.
I really hope the SX OS team are going to do something about the third party dock support, it's a pain in the ass to always carry the official power cord and dock to put the switch on a screen.

By looking deeper I found that:

Same issue, doesn't work with SH350 but works with SH500. The difference ? the SH500 has 3x USB ports, like my LREGO which has 3 as well.
And what is the similitude with the SH350, the one from
carlchina and the one from
rageshell ? They have either none or 1 USB port. As pointed by
rageshell this is probably due that SX OS tries to scan USB to allow to load XCI / install NSP from external drives. And looks like it fails if there is not 3 USB ports ?
I did more testing:
SysNAND with Atmosphere ==> The dock works, no crash
SysNAND with CF SXOS ==> Crash (so the issue is not from the EmuNAND either)
So, according to all those points, i'm pretty confident saying that bug is really caused by SX OS when the dock is plugged.
How to submit a bug to the team ? is there an issue tracker ?
Thanks.
