I don't believe 3rd party adapters like that work depending on what firmware you are on. I could be wrong, but I feel like I read that somewhere. Not SX ver, but your actual Switch firmware.

You must plug power to get HDMI out.
And considering this unknown hub, I recommend you to only use the official power adapter to avoid frying your switch.

I would like to add I've the same issue with SXOS 2.5.2 or 2.5.0 beta

and it's NOT related to the Switch firmware version.

Switch Sysnand official firmware 6.2 ==> It works
Switch Emunand CF 6.2 with SX OS 2.4 beta ==> It works
Switch Emunand CF 6.2 with SX OS 2.5.2 or 2.5.0 beta ==> it crashes (need to hard reboot)

My tiny Hub has 1x HDMI output 1x USB-A 1x USB-C
I used to use it as an USB-A adaptor while not in the official dock. but cannot do it anymore. once the hub is plugged (even without the HDMI cable) the switch freeze and the only way to recover is to press 15 sec the power button.

===== EDIT =====
I tried to load again SX OS 2.4 Beta on the emunand and it freezes as well. Looks like something has been changed on the emunand.

Official firmware 6.2 on the Sysnand don't freeze and works perfectly.

I'm a bit lazy but i'll try to redo an Emunand from my sysnand with SXOS 2.4 - try - update directly to 2.5.2 - try again.
If it works, is there an easy way to transfer all my game backup from my current emunand to the new one ?

Possibly a CFW bug. I have tried the apple usb c hdmi adapter with my switch power adapter plugged in and it did not work on firmware 5.1, but worked on a previous firmwares. Maybe an apple thing or Nintendo removed what was making 3rd party dongles not work in newer firmwares.

Switch firmware is already 6.2. I think it may be caused by the USB hard disk read function of sxos.

Maybe, but then you'd probably have the same issue with the official dock being that it connects via the USB-c port as well. Unless there is something about the official one, but it's just data and power most so, not sure what the difference would be.

Hello,

So I tried to redo a fresh emunand with SXOS 2.4 and interestingly, it's not working anymore :(
I don't understand why it's not working and why or how it was working before (still works on official FW though)

I tried another dock I have (the LREGO: https://www.amazon.com/StarPlayer-Ethernet-Nintendo-Switch-Samsung-MacBook/dp/B07GQYTJ8G) and that one works whatever version of SXOS I use
The only downside of the LREGO dock is that it'll not output HDMI unless I use the official power cord (which provide 15v to the switch).
I especially bought the SH350 (https://www.amazon.com/YOOJOP-Switch-Portable-Type-C-Adapter/dp/B07MDRHJB6) because the HDMI out works with any 5v provided to the dock. Very handy to use on a portable projector without main power.
I hope SX OS team will be able to fix that issue, I'll try under Atmosphere to see what happens.

If you need any log/debug info, I would be more than happy to provide.
Another info that might help (or not). If I plug the hub while the switch is booting, it works fine. Once the switch is booted I can read usb with it. If I try to unplug/replug, the switch freeze.

Hello, yes I'm aware of that, it's why the two dock I've chosen are "known" to be "safe" on latest firmware.

User reported they use LREGO dock as their primary dock with official power cord and never encountered issues (my plan is to use that one when I travel somewhere I know there is a TV and main power.

Regarding the SH350 no brick have been reported and is considered safe since firmware 5.0.

Peoples discovered that the "thing" that was bricking the switch is the transition from 5v to 15v and vice versa that was not happening at the right rate. This is supposed to be fixed since firmware 5.0 However you should avoid cold booting the switch or restarting/updating the switch on a third party dock since the bootloader may not handle correctly the voltages.

Anyways, I was planning to use the SH350 only from a 5V usb source (powerbank) on portable projector or place were outlets near screen are missing. In that case the switch should never brick.

I really hope the SX OS team are going to do something about the third party dock support, it's a pain in the ass to always carry the official power cord and dock to put the switch on a screen.

By looking deeper I found that:
https://team-xecuter.com/community/...does-not-support-third-party-tv-docks.128493/

Same issue, doesn't work with SH350 but works with SH500. The difference ? the SH500 has 3x USB ports, like my LREGO which has 3 as well.

And what is the similitude with the SH350, the one from carlchina and the one from rageshell ? They have either none or 1 USB port. As pointed by rageshell this is probably due that SX OS tries to scan USB to allow to load XCI / install NSP from external drives. And looks like it fails if there is not 3 USB ports ?

I did more testing:

SysNAND with Atmosphere ==> The dock works, no crash
SysNAND with CF SXOS ==> Crash (so the issue is not from the EmuNAND either)

So, according to all those points, i'm pretty confident saying that bug is really caused by SX OS when the dock is plugged.

How to submit a bug to the team ? is there an issue tracker ?

Thanks.

will pass it on and see if the devs can replicate with mentioned and possibly any other docs or cords . in the meantime if anyone else that has this issue with a certain brand maybe chime in on this thread.

Hi,
SH350 adapter and SXOS 2.6.2 is OK now \o/ (at least for display: KO for the sound but I can use a mini jack)
It was KO since SXOS 2.3 to 2.5.3
Thanks Team Executer.
