Ok, I'm all soldered up and booting into the bios screen of my lovely x3, switch panel and lcd screen (dunno how to get it working yet), but not sure where I go from here, 1st mod I've done, I hear the words evox and slayer bantered around the place, but have no idea of what to get...where to get it from and what to do with it when I have.....

Anyone care to talk me through the process..... in need of an insight from cradle to grave I think....

go for a slayers disk. it'll do evoX and all that other stuff u want. you download it from the "usual places" burn it to a dvd and pop it in ur xbox. then follow the instructions. you do need to have ur bios flash already though. which you can get from the mIRC channel xbins.

Thanks for that, going to have to find an emoticon for a brain exploding, been a big day for xbox learning.... I'll have a poke around for the slayer disk... is there a version I should keep an eye out for?

I would install avalaunch instead of slayers. Go to "the usual places" and download the newest version of it, then use the Xecuter 3 FTP server to send the avalaunch files to your F drive (E drive if you have stock drive). Evox is nice, but Avalaunch is way better. It has much better internet integration (downloads software upgrades and installs them automatically, downloads news tickers) and it has a built in FTP client, File manager, and can even be set up to automatically play your music while you are browsing the menus. UnleashX is cool too, but I think avalaunch is more user friendly. Also, make sure you download these programs:
XBMC (Xbox Mdia Center)
dvd2xbox (Copies games/dvd's to your hard drive)
dvdx2 (DVD player that doesn't need the DVD remote control)
Config Magic (good to have, but don't mess around with it untill you learn what it is)
Surreal 64 (Nintendo 64 game emulator)

Another noob question for the thread:

I downloaded FlashBIOS v3.03 and flashed that the my box fine but I'm not really sure what that dis.

also is says that the latest bios is X3 1959 - 1024k. Why don't they just put that on the site, why do you have to go to the "usual places" to download that?

do I need to do the X3 1959 - 1024k thing before I put on a dashboard?

Yes, you do have to put BIOS before dashboard...

The reason why X3 Bios isn't on site is because it is illegal... it is able to execute unsigned code, so hosting it on the site opens Team Xecuter up to liability.

The reason it is illegal is because it contains copywritten M$ code. Not becuause it runs unsigned code.

Here we go here's A noob thing I'm wondering about, I've searched everywhere but am unable to come up with a diffinative answer So ant help you all can give would be tops And thank you in advance...here goes
I did my mod 2 weeks ago, no problem, I got slayers put it in up and running also no problem,
Now i just bought need 4 speed underground for online play so O boot up my box holding the power button and disabling the chip everything works just like it supposed to but here's the thing in my retail MS dash I go to "memory" and there are all my programs... DVD2Xbox, Boxplorer, HDDloader etc, I've deleted those files from E and as I've come to discover everytime I use one of those programs it creates a new save on "E" and I don't wanna risk getting the boot from live,
so here the thing
1)- do I have my settings some how messed up? or
2)- Is that just the way it is and Xbox live won't go looking?
3)- should I just leave it alone and whenever I wanna go live I'll have to go delete those "extra" files first? I've already deleted them and they only come back when the app is used I was under the impresion the drive E was just saved game data,
Anyways thats my thing I don't wanna risk getting the boot from Xbox live so I'll wait for a reply from here and in the mean time I'll keep looking for answers once again thank you all
